Duzell stirred in his sleep and reached for his blankets. Well he would of if they had been there. He must have thrown them off during the night. Not wanting to open his eyes he reached around the grass for them. Why did it have to be so cold! Wait, grass and cold? When he had gone to sleep he was in the Nexus, sleeping on the warm sand next to Saint. Duzell shot up off the ground to find himself in a foggy moor. It was like nothing he had seen in the Weyr. Duzell wondered if he was dreaming, but the dampness of the morning grass was enough to convince him this place was real. Duzell tried to call out to Nysath, but he couldn’t feel the bond at all. Confused and concerned Duzell began to look for someone, anyone who could tell him the way home. Just then Duzell heard a noise coming from the nearby tall grass. Great, just his luck. First he was lost with no idea where he was and now something was going to eat him. He swore to any god that was listening that if he made it out of this and somehow got home he would never complain about Nysath being grumpy again.

Skittering this way and that the creature moved through the grass. It cuold only focus on one thing at the moment. Food. Where was it where was it! It thought it had heard something moving. So close, so close. It had to be here somewhere. This way? No. That Way? No. What about? Yes! Food.
Running full speed the creature barreled into Duzell. This thing had to have food it on! Things always had food on them! Food. Food. It hissed at the man extremely displeased it hadn't been offered a meal yet.
Skittering away from the man it ran away. Only to run right back to him. It obviously wanted him to follow it. What wasn't the thing following it. It? No not it a male. Not just any male a smooth, sky Osidae. A hungry one at that. Food. Run towards the man. Food. Run away. Was this man stupid. If the Osidae could think or talk surely he would be proclaiming the man an imbecile.

Duzell started down at the spider as it danced back and forth at his feet. It looked like an…oh what had Nysath called it again? An Osid… something or other. As far as Duzell was concerned it was a sky blue spider. Well, a sky blue spider made entirely out of smooth crystal. This one did not appear to be glowing like Princess did. So maybe only some of them glowed, maybe just the sharp ones? Also, thankfully, this spider thing did not seem nearly as eager to eat his face as Princess did. Princess looked at him like he was a juicy pear sitting just out of reach. This one, well, with this one he got the distinct impression it thought he was an idiot. Not that it could talk, Duzell just had a strange feeling that he was being judged. Heh, looked down on by a spider. That was exactly what this event needed to reach maximum levels of strange. If he was suddenly at the opera naked at least he could write this off as a bizarre dream but it all felt too real for that. Duzell’s ponderings were soon interrupted by the spider crashing into his leg again. Duzell watched it dash off and then come racing back. It took Duzell far longer than he would ever admit to realize that the spider wanted him to follow it. It…him…her? Bah, they all looked the same. He would ask Nysath when, if, he ever got home. Nysath would be able to tell him the gender of the spider and probably critique him for calling it a spider when it was clearly an Osidwhatever. Nysath liked to act like he knew everything, the trouble was sometimes it seemed like he was right. And of course he would never let Duzell, or anyone else for that matter, forget it.
The spider barreled into Duzell’s leg again and Duzell finally started to follow it. The spider raced through the tall grass as if he knew exactly where he was going, which was good as Duzell had no clue where they were or where they could be heading to. They walked on for what seemed like forever. A few times Duzell caught himself dozing as he walked. It had been the middle of the night when he had been whisked away here and he was beginning to feel it. To shake himself from his slumber Duzell decided to take in his surroundings. He was shocked upon tunring his gaze from the spider to find that they were in the desert, the Nexus looming mere feet in front of them. Duzell turned behind him. They had been walking of grass mere moments ago! Yet there was no trace of that strange wooded area anywhere. It was desert for miles around. Duzell was beginning to think he had lost his mind when the spider, noticing he had stopped walking, barreled into his leg at full force. So if the spider was here then that had to be real, right? Duzell wasn’t certain of anything right now save that the spider at his feet was waiting for him to do something. Duzell knelt to try and pick it up. It let him, even leapt into his hand. “I’m feeling kind of hungry, how ‘bout you?” In that moment Duzell could have sworn the spider nodded at him. Shaking his head Duzell began to walk towards the Nexus. “Come on Fredrick, let’s see if Princess will be willing to share some of his food.”
