Amerlan stumbled forward and caught the sparkling blue package with the tips of her fingers. Sighing in relief she quickly drew the box in towards her and shredded the wrapping paper. She couldn't have waited for someone else to claim the present to check if they were okay.
She held the box at arms-length before removing the lid. She didn't want to be doused in little Undassa like Terris had. She had already been swarmed once in her life and she didn't feel like repeating that experience any time soon. Once the lid was gone five Undassa swarmed out and over her arms. If she hadn't been the one who collected them in the first place she may have been in the same place as Terris, however, these five seemed over fond of her and more interested in inspecting her for any damages. Rather than causing any themselves.
"It's alright you five I had wanted to find you a good home with some of the others, but I'm wholly open to you staying with me now." Bright flashes of yellow floated into her mind, an obvious agreement from the Undassa.
Thankful and being let out in such a calm manner the Undassa slithered up to Taki and inspected her. She was different, but if the yellow flashes said anything it was that they were very happy to meet her. All five at once climbed up her and began to smother her in snakey kisses. Taki had uncovered a nice haul of sweet Undassa.
Three little Undassa had been enjoying a nice nap in their temporary bag home when a small Spirit Animal had rudely awoken them. This was not a humanoid they had been promised. Going into protection mode all three began to spit and hiss at Orryx. The Fire Undassa was the least pleased of the trio and launched itself at Orryx. Hoping to grab an itty-bitty mouth full of flesh it had it's venomous fangs at the ready.

Cain was late to the party. Though in honestly wasn't his fault this time. It was those silly bee like things of his. And his echee. Apparently, they had gotten into the hive, stolen what little honey there was and then proceeded to smear it everywhere. Then Garland tried to lick it off and...Needless to say, by the time Cain went in front of Dorth for inspection, he was covered in tiny branches and sand. Who knew pload spit and honey was so sticky?
Either way, it had taken some scrubbing and by the time that Cain arrived with Able in tow, the party seemed to be in full swing. As did the snaky things. Blinking as he saw them come out of the packages, he eyed them warily. Snakes could not hurt him now. Did not mean he hadn't learned his lesson with the echee in that small creatures can cause a lot more havoc than big. Moving over to the table, Able started to sniff the packages as Cain poked the squashed one. Going to open it? Want me to open it! I'll open it! Before Cain could stop him, Able had somehow taken the lid off the package.
Not even waiting to see what was going to come out, Cain grabbed the Eld'rani and backed away. Yeah. Lets not get the living thing bit by the maybe venomous snakes. "So anyone has any ideas if these guys can kill you or not," he asked as he watched the package, waiting for anything to poke out its head.

Disappointed that the squid had paid him no mind, Kapelle curled back up on Leyora's shoulder taking a very cat-like nap, save for the chiming bells every time that he snored... this time. Next time he might snore tuba music, if he was so inclined. Kapelle was nothing if not random.
Meanwhile, Tigress was sniffing at the remaining packages and Rasmus was trying to look completely innocent as he made his way to table that the treats had been placed on. Leyora saw him but said nothing, knowing that there was plenty there for everyone if they wanted a meat buns.
She was more worried about whether or not to pick up one of the presents, though. While she wasn't deathly afraid of snakes, unless they were known friendly ones, she generally steered clear of them. She had no desire to contend with super fast strikes of from venomous fangs! Her heart was racing enough watching Terris. She wasn't sure she could find the correct herbs fast enough to make the exact right poultice to draw out a venom she was unfamiliar with. Tentatively, she lifted the carefully wrapped box with the bright blue bow and set it on the ground. Kneeling, she took care to unwrap the package as neatly as the one who had wrapped the gift had put it together. As she lifted the lid, she whispered, "Please be friendly..."

Peering up from her Undassa covered arms Amerlan answered Cain, "I found them on this strange island off the coast. At first I was swarmed. Bit a couple times too. Didn't kill me, but they give some strange hallucinations and a terrible hangover when it passes. No lasting effects that I've noticed though."
Her warning didn't seem to be needed however. Two wind Undassa were curled up in a circle, tails in their mouths, as they slept. While a metallic one was hovering just on the outside of the box standing guard. How those two had slept through the entire ordeal was a complete mystery. It would take some coaxing for the metallic to move and grant entrance to the other two however.
The back of Leyora's package was illuminated brightly by three Undassa, one fire, and two light. None of them seemed overly worried about the human in front of them, but dark green flashes appeared in Leyora's mind every few seconds. They all seemed to be waiting, wanting something. It almost seemed as though the fire Undassa gave a huff before trying to eat one of the light Undassa's tails. While another Undassa simply didn't appeal to it's gnawing belly, perhaps this human would have a tasty treat for it.

Taki gaped in amazement as the Undassa swarmed up her arms and kissed her, making her giggle as their flickering tongues tickled her neck and cheeks. These wonderful little serpents were amazing in their variety and variations. One with a hood and tiny feet clinging to one arm, another with two tails that wrapped snugly around her other arm, another that took advantage of dual heads to show its affection on both cheeks at once, and two that she thought looked perfectly identical taking up residence on her shoulders, rubbing their heads against her neck between kisses.
*Hehehe! Oh aren't you perfect little snakes!* She saw the others having a bit of trouble, and was somewhat glad hers were so kind; she was smaller, and their mouths, tiny to any other, would be a bit bigger on her. She did note that the cobra-hooded and the matching pair seemed to have small fangs, and made sure to remember when she fed them to be careful of this. Speaking of fed...
*I bet they're hungry! C'mon Tam'kar! Lets get s snack for us and our new friends!* The kitsune eagerly followed, letting his Bonded put the two-tailed granite-looking one on his back where he promptly curled up, tail in mouth for a small nap. *Now... what to name you?* Retrieving some of the fruit and beginning to feed the Undassa and her Bondeds, she looked worridly at Terris; the knight, whom she thought of as very kind, wasn't getting up. It looked like two of the snakes had bitten him. Briefly her ear flickered at hearing about their venom, and she could only hope he'd be alright. If it did that to -him,- with now much bigger he was, heaven only knew what it would do if one bit her!

Cain held the struggling Able in his hands as the protective shiny snake stuck its head out. From here, he couldn't tell its gender. "Stay here Able." Letting the cub go, he immediately went for the food. Least it wasn't the snakes. Approaching the box slowly, he held out his hand as he took a peek inside. "Awwww! You all just look so adorable when you are sleeping! I want the lot of you! So pretty and cutesy and and..." He shut up as he realized what he was saying and promptly looked around for anyone that was close enough to notice. Namely Terris.
Luck seemed to be with him though as the closest he noticed were the ones that wouldn't make a comment about the adorable, baby voice he used. Only way he could explain the happiness and cuteness of seeing the snakes sleeping like that. Though getting past Athena would be fun. Least Hermes and Frol would not be disturbed from their naps as Cain tried to earn Athena's trust.
Though maybe he should be trying with food instead of his fingers. Able certainly thought so as he brought over a piece of food and sat it down beside the female before going back to chow down. Almost immediately, Athena relaxed enough for Cain to gently lift all three out of the box and onto the table. "So...You got any idea what makes a good nest for them," he called out to Amerlan as he absentmindedly stroked the still slightly mistrustful metallic.
The venom did not scare him in the least. What is the worst that could happen? He thought he was Superman? Though seeing Leyora opening a box about had him jumping out of his figurative skin. He hoped they were friendly too as he moved to get ready to tackle his friend away from the box should the snakes proved unfriendly.

Terris sat up slowly and looked around. The world was swimming and all-together too bright, and there was something not quite right about it.
He dislodged the two aggressive snakes from his face, put them firmly in the gaping pink maw of the box they had come from, and drew his hand back sharply as the box tried to bite him. He hissed, causing all of his Undassa to hiss back, their eyes whirling.
As he became more aware of his surroundings, he wondered exactly where he was. He knew he had been at a party, but now he seemed to be sitting in the middle of a small forest, only the trees kept moving, and making odd sounds. What WAS this strange place?
The casual observer, of course, would see the man sitting on the ground as a party went on around him, no forest, no odd sounds, just people, their bonded, and a whole lot of chatter, but the venom had started to affect the man.
He stood, his legs slightly wobbly, carefully picked up the box, which was still snapping, and now growling at him, and began to totter about, completely disoriented.

Leyora was surprised to find three bright snakes staring expectantly at her just as calm as could be. The flashes of color that started appearing, seemingly before her eyes frustrated her a little until she started getting used to it. Eying the snakes suspiciously, she asked, "Are you doing that?!" More flashes, so it seemed that it was the snakes projecting after all. what a world! Leyora chuckled to herself and asked Rasmus to bring a couple meat buns, since he was sniffing around the basket so much. tigress ended up being the eld'rani to retrieve the goods, though. Scratching her big cat under the chin she asked, "Where would I be without you?"
Leyora crumbled the still warm meat buns into pieces and sprinkled them into the box as evenly as she could. She didn't want her new pets to fight of morsels when there was plenty to be had. Kapelle woke up and half fluttered, half climbed up to the top of Leyora's head, from her shoulder, and gave a mighty stretch. Laying down and leaning way over, he, too was curious about the undassa. before she knew it, the strange creature began playing music akin to that of a snake charmer's. Leyora laughed at the silly exchange and looked up, finally, to see how everyone else was faring.
"Is everything alright, Cain? You look like you've seen a ghost.... Uhh... Sorry! That did not come out right at all." She ducked her head, embarrassed. The skeleton, itself was hard to read, but slowly, Leyora was learning via her empathetic nature how to sense her friend's different moods.
Speaking of friends, she was also concerned for Terris who seemed to wandering about in a daze. "Do you think there is anything we can do for him? I'd hate to see him hurt himself... more. " She asked any who were listening. She couldn't seem to pull any antidotes from her memory that would be useful in a situation like this. She had not gotten that far along in her Apothecary Apprenticeship in her old world.

Leyora wasn't the only becoming more and more worried about Terris. When he was laying and sitting still, it was fine, but now that the knight was up and moving, it was a whole other story. Especially since he was wobbling with each step. Taki winced as she feared he could step into a hole, and twist or even break an ankle, or otherwise get hurt.
*Tam'kar, Knight, we've got to help.* Her two bondeds left off their nibbling of the treats and moved with the Myrgwae towards Terris. When she was adjacent, Taki slowly reached out and took his arm. *Terris,*she said softly, *why don't you come with me and sit down. Just at the table over there.* While she spoke, she watched the Undassa warily around him, hoping they wouldn't go after her next! Knight gently nudged Terris from behind, while Tam'kar pushed against his leg from the side opposite Taki, trying to help turn the man in the safest direction.

"Hmm. Oh yeah. I'm fine Leyora. It...Well, I'm afraid I embarrassed myself and was hoping no one saw." He gave a smile, but it did not look much different from his normal one, despite having the feeling of sheepishness behind it. Laughing lightly, he shook his head as he feed Athena a piece of fruit. The skeleton was not about to admit he had been worried that she was going to get bit. Though it looks like Terris had beat everyone in that department as he looked towards the Knight when both Taki and Leyora spoke up about him.
Moving his three snakes back into the box and calling Able over to watch it, Cain slowly approached the knight. "I have no clue. Sounds like the venom will past in time. Have no idea if we can speed that up or not...Anyone got any rope?" He came up on Terris's other side and moved to grabbed that arm. He wasn't as worried about the venom though and looked toward Taki. To make sure they were going to be going in the same direction. Though another thought went through Cain. "Crap. I hope he sees us as friends and not something to attack."

Orryx quickly fled from the bag, yelping as the fire Undassa savagely bit his tentacle. The spirit animal completely deserved his attack, he ought to know better than charging into starnge places by now. He flew off as quickly as he could. Unfortunately for the spirit animal the Undassa had wings and flew right after him. I warned you! Misty yelped at the spirit squid. Duzell, you better come help him.
Duzell turned away from Terris, who was at this point gathering a large crowd, and walked over to the present table. The fire Undassa flew back over and landed on the table next to the sparkly bag. Duzell carefully removed the other two Undassa from the bag and placed them next to the fiery one. If he hadn’t been so concerned with Orryx he would have probably focused on how cute the little snakes were. As it was though, he was very worried about his spirit animal, who was currently swimming in lopsided circles proclaiming how beautiful the soothing ambient music was. He shook his head and sighed. Orryx was lost in lala land. Hopefully the effects would be wearing off soon. He hoped that maybe this would finally teach Orryx to think before he went poking his nose into everything.

The little nature snake that Terris, when he was in better condition, would come to name Uile, disengaged herself from the knight as he got up and started walking around, and, instead of being latched onto his nostril, began to flutter around his head, hissing viciously at anyone and anything that came near him. How dare they! Only she, and maybe diswun and datwun were allowed to attack him, he was their human! Tiny fangs bared the little snake attempted, somewhat unsuccessfully to ward everyone off.
Terris, meanwhile, still under the influence of a triple shot of venom, was well past the point or recognising anyone as, well, anyone. He allowed himself to be led, for the most part, by the nice people, until he caught sight of Cain. The knight got very still very quickly, his blue eyes wide, and then, shooting up from the chair where he had been sat, he made a break for it, a desperate attempt to escape. The social gathering would have understood, if they could see through his eyes.
While everything seemed to look normal for everyone else, the hallucinogenic susbstance coursing through the knight's veins was beginning to hit its peak. As he was led by the usually familiar faces, he somehow had the impression that he was in a distant land with beatiful women escorting him to see their queen. He was led through a great palace, ornate riches as far as the eye could see, and smiled as the ladies, beautiful beyond imagining spoke a foreign language he barely understood.
Somewhere in the background, exotic music played, sounding almost like the music the desert tribes of his homeworld played as they sat around the fires of an evening. He laughed at that as the music faded out, and then the women were pressing him downward, urging him to sit on a finely crafted, ornae throne.
"Oh, no I couldn't possibly" he began, and then he caught a glimpse of their queen.
The creature was large and white, with a triangular head and two giant oval eyes, six long insectoid legs protruding from her chitinous body. Her mandibles clacked menacingly, and the knight's eyes grew wide. He struggled to stand, to back away from the hideos, giant mantis, fumbled for his swords, but failed to grasp them.
The women were laughing now, their voices shrill and he knew, he had been trapped by them, coaxed into this deathtrap to be a sacrifice for their monstrous queen. He broke free, turned swiftly and ran as fast as he could away from the lot of them. The walls of the palace, that he had so enjoyed on the way there no more than a blur as his feet carried him as fast and as far as he could.
It was not until much later, when the sun had gone down, and stars flecked the sky that he came to his senses and realised what had happened. By then, of course, the gathering was long over, so he slunk quietly back into the town and went to bed, his five snakes following behind him.

Post by Raegar on Aug 5, 2014 17:58:48 GMT -8
Cozzene's gaited trot felt as smooth as a well greased carousel, lulling his rider into comfort, or as least as much comfort as hanging lopsided off of a horse can bring. Raegar slept for quite some time before Cozzene stopped and woke his rider with a gentle nudge through the bond. "We are at the lake, my master." Raegar groaned, which seemed to be his typical response to anything, right now, and then followed it up with, "Don't ever call me that, again. Bad enough you are letting me foul your fine coat in swamp stink." "I'm sure I will live, as long as you do." "And what is that supposed to mean?" "I think you already know." Raegar slide from his horse's back and let fly another oath. "Foolish beast. You have a death wish?" "No more than you do. Now hush and wash up that wound." Cozzene waded out into the waters of the oasis and patiently laid down in the shallows with Raegar in part to offer a leaning post and also to let the cool waters roll over his coat. He gave no hint of it but he hoped that his rider would bathe him as well. The ripe stink of the quagmire really would be too much to put up with if it were not for so noble a cause. By now, even being to one to have the premier bonding with humans, amongst his own breed, was a secondary thought to making sure that Raegar was well.
Saying nothing more, Raegar sat down in the water and slumped against Cozzene, like a fallen book against a bookend. "Don't you go rolling on me, now. That would be counter-productive to your motives... whatever they are." For the most part Raegar was joking. The mental image of death by accidental drowning in the clean water after all he had gone through would have made him laugh if it did not hurt so much to do so, right now. If Cozzene was amused by the thought, he didn't show it. He merely twitched one ear back to half mast and slapped the water with his tail.
Shrugging slightly, Raegar scrubbed as much mud as he could from his show suit. He might be able to salvage the black pants and black twin tailed over coat, but, like the deep maroon silk inside his top hat, the matching silk vest was ruined. The white button up shirt he wore beneath it all was ruined as well. No matter. The outfit had once been nice enough, but it never fully met up to Raegar's picky fashion sense. He enjoyed dressing fancy without going down right gaudy like some other types of entertainers were bad for doing.
As he washed himself and his suit, he was carefully testing the edges of the wound. The cool water felt good on the exposed parts, so taking off a white glove, he used it to swab the mud out of the wound and then crawled back to shore to pick up his leafy envelope. He grimaced at the thought of what he had to do, but it was better than bleeding out before he got to whatever town Cozzene was taking him to. He methodically patched dry grass over the wound, finding he was not quite brave enough to actually poke it inside the wound. The hole was not deep enough to warrant it any way. He stuck the clean broad leaves over his grass patch and then removed his shiny, black leather belt, wrapping it instead around his torso and cinching it down just tight enough to hold his make shift bandage on.
Returning to Cozzene, he eyed the muddy fur and said, "This will not do at all. let's get you cleaned up." "You need healing." "This will only take a moment." Cozzene sent pleasure through the bond and allowed his bond to scrub the mud away. "I think I am good enough to walk for awhile. We need to dry off." the horse bobbed his head as he stood and joined his companion in walking out of the oasis. "Town is not far now. We should be dry by then."
So it was that man and horse eventually strolled into town, mostly dry, and happened upon the small gathering. Some guy, a knight from the looks of him, ran right past him with a hand full of strange snakes following along after him. "And I thought I had it rough," Raegar jested quietly to Cozzene. The stallion seemed uninterested in jokes, though as he whinnied loudly to make their arrival known.

Cain watched as Terris took off running. Interesting. The skeleton wondered what he could have saw to make him jump off in terror like that. "Should we go after him?" Though by the time he said those words it was already too late. Terris was long gone. "Anyone want to start a bet on rather he lives through the night without accidentally drowning himself?"
Hearing a horse, Cain looked up and studied the new arrival. He did not look so hot himself though Cain wasn't going to go near the man. No telling how he was going to ask and judging by the horse he was riding, if he did not take a liking to Cain, Cain wasn't gonna stay together long. Moving back to the gift table, he sat down and just feed his snakes with bits and pieces of food that Able brought over. This was the safest option currently and did not involve Knights screaming their heads off.

Taki sighed sadly as Terris darted off away from them, putting a hand to her forehead under her hat. She could only hope that he would be alright, and wouldn’t end up hurting himself or something. Mentally she made a note to find him later and check, to be sure. But then again, she also knew the knight had lots of bondeds, including dragons. They were probably aware he was in a bit of trouble, and would be on hand to help him if he really got into a fix. That realization made her feel better, almost as if she’d just had a big bowl of iced cream from back home. Briefly she wondered if she could recreate the treat she’d learned from the rustic tavern. Maybe Leyora or Duzell could help!
*Wow, that venom is powerful!* she murmured to no one in particular. *Remind me to never get bitten!* Her handful (or to be more precise, hat-ful, as three of her five had decided that twisting around her hat band was the perfect place for a nap, while Granite and Shale stayed draped across her shoulders and arm) hissed softly at her speaking. Briefly she wondered if someone could create an antitoxin to them, to help someone get over the hallucinations quicker. While she lacked the skill, she knew others were stronger healers.
Then she heard the horse’s neigh, and looked over. The sight she saw gave her a new reason to gasp. The man looked like he had been through the ringer, and lost. His once-fine clothing was reminding her of ragged yarn, and his step shows exhaustion. And worse! He looked hurt! She saw a patch of leaves with what seemed to be grass peeking out, and it appeared to be oozing a bit of blood.
*Oh!* Her turquoise eyes widened in surprise, and she quickly approached. *Oh dear, are you alright? What am I saying, of course you’re not alright. You’re hurt! Why do people always ask that I wonder? Oh, please ignore my babbling. Come on, you probably should sit down and let one of the others take a look at that. I’m not much of a healer, but I think there’s someone here who can help.* Gently she stepped to his other side, opposite the beautiful horse with him – she’d admit she had never seen the like before – and put his arm on her shoulder to give him another prop to walk with. The Myrgwae might have been small, but she knew that any assistance was better than none, and it seemed that in helping Terris, she’d put herself right in the best position to notice the newcomer first. Helping Raegar to the closest available bench, she smiled kindly, wanting to seem welcoming and friendly. With her free hand she absently rummaged in her pockets – reaching her bag was impossible at the moment – but didn’t find anything that she might offer to help him. Well, likely one of the others would! Someone always had just what was needed in any situation.
