Duzell had never seen Nysath move so fast as he did in that moment. Nysath jumped away from the group of hatching eggs and lept into the sky, almost completely out of sight of those on the ground. Duzell doubled over laughing. "Are you hiding from baby birds?" The last thing that I want is to have a group of Saydar chicks following me around as if I intend to take care of them. That is distinctly your job. Duzell continued laughing at Nysath as he rolled the eggs that weren't hatching towards the center of the group. The two that were hatching already would be his, he guessed. At any rate he was fairly certain it wouldn't be a good idea to move them at this point.
Duzell turned his attention to the tied up ploads. They were actually quite fascinating, when they weren't being incredibly destructive that is. You want one, Nysath said flatly. And I suppose you expect me to just carry it, you and however many of those chicks you can hold with us on our adventures?
Duzell faltered. He had a point; how was he supposed to give a home to all these creatures when he didn't even have one himself? "We'll just have to find a place for them to stay. We aren’t going to be on the road all the time anyway. Now will you get down here?" No. "Don't be such a baby! How about this: if one of the chicks takes a liking to you, strange as that would be given your bubbly personality, I'll take care of it. Come on, all the other dragons are being grown up about this."
Nysath huffed, but in a rare turn of events had no return argument for Duzell. After a bit of circling Nysath finally landed and stared at the pile of eggs. I suppose it will not be all bad. Having some Saydars near-by will make getting food much simpler. Just do not take any more of the little things than you can handle. You can always breed more once you get more used to caring for them. Duzell was about to argue with Nysath; how could he want to eat the babies! But, they wouldn’t be babies forever and he couldn’t exactly care for an entire flock of Syadars by himself. He watched excitedly as a few more eggs started cracking and the chicks began working their way out of their shells and wandering off in the direction of whatever creature the spotted first.
Nysath felt something tickle his tail. To his utmost annoyance, he knew without looking what it was. Slowly he turned his head to stare at the Saydar chick that was perched there. He stared at the chick and the chick stared right back at him for what seemed like forever. Then Nysath let out the breath he had been holding and slowly turned his head back to pile of unhatched eggs. Just keep the little parasite away from me. Duzell shook his head. "Yeah, you're gonna be a great parent."

Amerlan took in the absurd amount of carnage around her. Saydar bodies lay strewn everywhere and every now and then she could spot a the body of a Pload. Picking her way through the mess she found a few stray eggs and set them with the others. Just as she had delivered them so Seroth she heard the man named Terris call them forward. She didn't really want to go and see what was up, but Seroth urged her to, "Go on and see what he wants, it couldn't hurt."
Mulling it around in her head she agreed with Seroth. Listening would hurt, though all she really wanted to do was go home with Seroth and take a nap. They had been out since dawn and she hadn't eaten yet. Quite frankly the lack of sleep, food, and watching baby animals die was starting to make her feel a bit sick. She could handle adult things very well and was no stranger to killing, but she had quite the soft spot for babies, it hurt her heart to see some of the eggs that had been eroded away by plasma.
Picking her way through what was left of the Saydars she took the hint from Terris and put the few that he had missed out of there misery. The Dragons would be eating good for awhile now. It was sad how they came by the food, but it was also good that they would now have more free time to build up this Weyr.
Finally making it up to where Terris stood she agreed with what he said, there was no way the Saydars would be returning and there was no way they could set the Ploads free to run amock. She did have an idea for the Ploads however, "I've worked with medicines before, perhaps they could be of some use there? I don't know what kind of stock we have in this land, so I'm assuming we're missing some of the essentials. Maybe with some testing I could find a use for their plasma." She had used animal secretions before in simple remedies, so she didn't see she couldn't do the same with the Ploads.
"Or I could roast them and we wouldn't have to worry about them eating our food again." Seroth was less than pleased with the Ploads and he didn't care much for giving them a pass.
"But if we do that then I may not get the chance to experiment with new remedies. Go toast some of the dead ones if you wish, but I need some of these alive." Her proposal wasn't exactly what he had hoped for, but toasting some Ploads, albeit dead ones, did seem fun.
Just as they were about to continue their banter the eggs began to hatch. Catching the tail end of Akanth's speech Amerlan jumped into action. Grabbing a few eggs she set them before herself and hoped she would be the first thing they saw. Having pets wasn't high on her list, but she couldn't complain about having a food source for Seroth, and perhaps they would make a good breeding project.
Seroth thumped his tail and pulled a few eggs over to himself. Surely if his bonded could have a pet them he could as well. Besides, he wouldn't have to take care of them! He could pin all the duties on Amerlan and just enjoy playing with them. The was also the plus of getting to eat their offspring when they were old enough.
Amerlan stared at Seroth out of the corner of her eye. "What are you so happy about?" She had never seen the Dragon so delighted an was a little bit concerned for the well being of whoever his joy may effect.

Xel would have had a few things to say about being whistled at like a dog, but he didn't want to draw attention to himself. Except it seemed he'd have to at some point, given the knight's speech about survival and domesticating native fauna. Apparently, none of the other berks here was indigenous either, dumped in a whole new land by weak Planar barriers. It appeared to be a Prime, though a Prime not on a single one of Sigil's comprehensive Planar maps.
And the native fauna...
The last Pload that Xel'zhan had tied up was looking up at him pathetically. It was...almost cute. And that annoyed the hell out of Xel, but he sighed and slumped and patted its head anyway in what might have been a comforting gesture coming from anyone else.
And the eggs that Xel had piled up were starting to move.
Aw, crap, they were hatching.

Terris moved quickly, rounding up as many of the saydar eggs as he could into a pile, while trying to avoid tripping over various things, like dead ploads, packs and dragon tails that were laying around on the ground. He kicked the carcass of one pload out of the way, noting the arrow shaped marking on its back and the not-so-arrow shaped marking on its abdomen as it rolled over, squelching as it did so.
"Awh, that was the one I followed here. I wanted to keep that one." he whined, but kept moving, he did not have the privlege of mourning the creature's loss when there were babies about to hatch, he had to get all the eggs in one place! As he was about to place the last two eggs in the pile, they broke apart in his hands, two chicks, still wet and gooey opened their bright avian eyes and imprinted on him. Akanth chuckled as they nuzzled into the warmth of him.
looks like you are also a mother, my friend The dragon said. Terris noticed another egg hatching, rolled it over to the large brown, who already had two chicks sitting on his tail.
Terris! What are you! OH NO! the egg hatched, the dizzy chick locking eyes with the dragon, peeped contentedly at the beast, who was now a '"mother" of three, Terris had aquired two babies for himself.
A larger pile of eggs with Angelique and Miranth hatched next, four latching instantly onto the dragon, while another four peeped happily at Angelique herself....a ninth baby hatched, and without looking at either waddled over to Amerlan, imprinting on her, a second baby flopped out of an egg nearby to join its clutchmate at her side, while four babies popped out of a pload carcass and attached themselves to Seroth.
A pair of saydar hatchlings were busily following Duzell around, much to Nysath's amusement, Terris grinned at the dragon, and rolled another four eggs to him, to go with the baby that had already imprinted, leaving the dragon stuck with five needy, and very noisy hatchlings, their peeps sounding very much like "mummy, mummy, mummy" as they mobbed him and demanded food and warmth.
It seemed saydar hatchlings were not fussy about whether what they imprinted on had skin or flesh, because Cain was very quickly accosted by four hatchlings, one of which looked particularly fat, while a lone hatchling found its way over to Dorth, staring lovingly into the dragon's eyes.
Xel'zhan and Arlene both managed to snag one hatchling each, with their dragons faring a whole lot better, with five each curling into the space between their arms and chest and settling down for a well-deserved nap...hatching was a whole lot of hard work, after all.
Just as everyone thought they were going to be overrun with saydar hatchlings, against all good judgement, a small band of male saydar limped back into the hatching area, their feathers unkempt and their eyes wild. They glared daggers at the humans and dragons present, and placed themselves firmly on top of the remaining eggs, but made absolutely no attempt to retrieve the imprinted hatchlings.
It seemed that the wild saydar clutch was not lost after all, but there would be enough domestic babies for everyone to start their own little flocks, if they so wanted.

It seemed the whole fiasco was chaos for everyone and for Eyrdith and Leyora it was no different. Eyrdith's short length was making it hard for to corral ploads and in the end she resorted to carefully slapping the ploads backs with the tip of her tail until they unwillingly released their eggy meals. Leyora, was having even less luck as her body weight was just barely enough to get the desired result. Still, determined almost to the point of being angry, Leyora chased one particularly energetic pload far and wide. She finally managed to corner it at the top of a small hill. Here, she took a running jump and mouthed a prayer as she made the leap. Much to her pleasure the pload upchucked its prize, but unfortunately this sent the egg rolling down the hill.
She cried out in alarm, "Eyrdith stop that egg!" then thought more or less to herself, "Or at least slow it down." Eyrdith rumbled in protest as she was busy nudging eggs into piles already. Leyora huffed and ran down the hill as fast as she safely dared, lest she trip and land on the egg, instead. It was a scramble, but she made it to the bottom of the hill just in time to see the egg slow down on level ground and come to rest near the rest of the people dragons and eggs. Exhausted and still wary of meeting the other people, Leyora sank to her knees and tried catching her breath. As she did so, she contented herself to and watching the eggs hatch and both humanoids and dragons welcome the babies into their new families.
After awhile, she sighed and glanced at the carnage of the few eggs that had not survived the slimy plasma attacks. "Come little one, let the others to their joy. I know what is in your heart, and you are right. we should give the unfortunate eggs a peaceful end." Eyrdith found a place a respectful distance for the those who had young to tend to and began digging a hole. Careful not to touch eroded shells anywhere that plasma on them, Leyora began picking up egg pieces and laying them in the hole. The hardest part was going to be laying plasma burnt bodies to rest, but as one who had often chosen animal friends over humans even in her previous life, death was simply a fact of life. It didn't make it hurt any less, though, as she picked the bodies up.

As Leyora moved to pick up and bury one such body, the long, spindly neck of the baby bird was raised weakly, a quiet, faltering "peep" released from the hatchling's mouth.
The poor thing had clearly been through hell, pload plasma had singed many of the baby's feathers, and it was unclear whether some would grow back, but what was more disturbing was the ruined eye, milky, and clearly useless, though the little saydar still had one good eye.
Barely able to move, having been almost digested, the little bird peeped again in distress, before falling limp, exhausted, but not dead. Its little frame heaving with every breath, though its pulse remained strong.

Angry, Large, Eternity Cain wasn't angry at the thought of imprinting four cute and needy little saydar babies. He would raise them with such love and care and makes sure Dorth didn't eat one as a snack. Not that they would be even much of a snack. They were not very large after all. Petting them all and even laugh as Dorth became a mommy to one of the strange looking birds, he cooed at them. "Hi there Rocky, Bullwinkle, Muddy and Sandy! I'm so proud to be your mummy!" Insert bad punage here but he didn't care who heard him. It was too good of an opportunity to pass up. They were named in the order they seemed to have hatched in, but no one was really going to be nitpicky about it. Cain doubted any of them would get one of the references anyway.
Humming contentedly to himself, he almost forgot about picking out a pload when Dorth interrupted with a snort. Do not forget. I want a pload and you are going to get it. She would hear no argument from him as Curly started up a fuss. Apparently Dorth had to get the cranky, hungry chick. Just her luck. Sighing, she scratched the ridge between her eyes for what seemed like an eternity. She predicted that this chick was going to try her patience and as a result, would soon end up in her stomach. Unless of course Cain intervened. Which he would. The skeleton really did have a big heart. Just don't let anyone know about it.
"I have not forgotten Dorth. I just don't want to get near one of them at the moment. I have holes in my back that I get to try and either replace or fill in with whatever I can find." I'm sure that pload back bone would work. "Yeah. If I want to walk funny for like a month while I skim the bone to the right size." Huffing, Dorth picked up all the chicks (despite the protest of the four that imprinted to Cain) and took them back off to their den. She left word that she would feed them all and that Cain had better bring back an interesting looking pload. Or replacing his back bone would be the least of his worries.
Walking around, he noticed someone he must have missed in the earlier frenzy. A wince made his body shudder as he took in what was in the woman's hands. Deciding that being near something so close to Death would be a bad idea, he waded into the still alive and still here ploads. "Okay. So how are we going to divide the ploads? Hopefully into many pieces." That was his attempt at a joke. Just ignore it. It was not one of his best. Then again, neither was the pun he made earlier. Today was not a good day for jokes and puns apparently. Though, what is a good day for puns?
The answer? No day was a good day for puns. No day at all.

Amerlan danced about avoiding the tiny little Saydars running about. They seemed especially eager to imprint on Dragon and humanoid alike. For now she forgot about the Pload specimens and went running after Seroth who was joyfully bumbling about looking for some Saydar chicks to call his own. For a large Dragon he was especially agile and managed not to squish a single Saydar chick, though without the shrieking of Amerlan he surely would have squashed a few Ploads on his way.
A particular dead Pload caught his attention as it seemed to have something moving inside of it. Keeping his head a good distance away he examined it. It was a good thing he hadn't gotten too close because four little chicks came bursting out of the Pload and instantly attached themselves to him. Seroth chuckled at the little ones and immediately set to work cleaning the goo off of them. The taste was horrid, but he couldn't let his new hatchlings be covered in ick! The smell may have stuck to them otherwise and he couldn't risk that.
From what he could tell all four Saydar chicks were female, though their color varied greatly. One was black and pied, two were brown pied, and the last little one was all brown. He hummed lightly as to not scare them off, "Oh you are such good little ones. Yes you chose a fine daddy." Picking up the all brown chick he inspected her carefully. "You will be Acorn." Setting the chick down carefully he picked up the twins. He had no idea if they were really twins, but they were so similar in appearance that they may as well have been. Though he doubted he would ever really mix them up, the larger of the two was a fiery little thing while her sister was much more normal. He addressed the fiery 'twin' first, "You will be Toast and you will be Mango." Finally he got to the little black pied chick who wanted nothing more than to run around his front paw in an attempt to escape being picked up. Setting down the 'twins' he expertly scooped up the black chick. "You are going to be a pain growing up aren't you Olive? Olive, yes that'll suit you perfectly."
Amerlan had caught the tail end of Seroth's encounter with the chicks and could only chuckle at the names he had given them. "Wow you're certainly creative. Naming them all after food? What happened to not eating them?"
"Food comes from food, so their names are perfectly acceptable. Don't you listen to her little ones, your names suit you just fine." Seroth gathered his new hatchlings close and glared at Amerlan. "Besides you have two little shadows of your own you should be paying attention to."
"What....?" She hadn't even noticed one baby trying to waddle over to her and another, much closer to her was kicking off a piece of shell from it's foot. Groaning she reached down, scooped it up and removed the bits of shell still leftover. "I suppose you need a name if you're going to be staying, and I doubt giving you up is an option." Turing the little one over she quickly inspected it and discovered it was in fact a he.
"You know I could have found out he is a he without you having to check? The other is a female by the way." Seroth chuckled as he informed Amerlan.
"Why didn't you say so sooner!" Huffing she picked up the apparently female chick who had finally made it's way over. With a brown pied chick in each hand she shuffled through her brain for good names. They certainly wouldn't be named after food! Looking down at the little boy she couldn't help but smile, "Owen sounds good doesn't it? And how about Pearl?" The chicks looked up at her stupidly and just peeped. Their little brains didn't care much for names, no they'd rather be fed right now. "Yes, yes food soon." What had she gotten herself into? First a Dragon and now six small Saydar babies to take care of. She knew Seroth wouldn't be pulling his weight in the rearing of them, and she was still determined to get a Pload for herself!

Oh. Oh no. They were cute.
Xel looked down at the Saydar chick leaning against his leg and sighed. Great. She just had to be adorable.
Civeth had his own little flock of Saydar chicks, blithely peeping at him for food, unaware that they were curled up with one of their main predators. And Civeth, the bastard, was crooning at them like he'd actually laid the eggs they'd hatched from!
"Orana," he told the chick that had imprinted on him. She peeped. Whether she liked the name or not, she didn't say. Probably couldn't say.
Leyna and Nolan and Konnr and Random and Bel. Aren't they beautiful, tiefling mine?
"Civeth, you're being an idiot. Those names don't even make sense!"
That doesn't matter, you grump. We have babies!

Lost in her own thoughts, Leyora almost missed the brief movement from the hatchling. However, the peep started her enough to make her plop on her rear. Staring wide-eyed at the chick, she quickly checked the pulse and listened to the harsh breaths the poor creature was struggling to take. She hoped that the strong pulse suggested that the saydar would live, but she was at a loss for how to steady the breathing. She started with cleaning the all hazardous mess from the bird, humming a soothing tune all the while hoping the music might calm the creature. Next she cropped the few remaining feathers short to be certain that no plasma hid beneath continuing to eat away at flesh. Once the grooming was complete she cuddled the weak creature to her chest and admitted to herself that she needed help if she was to save the limp form in her arms.
So engrossed in her desire to save the life was she, that Leyora had not yet noticed that Eyrdith was on her own mission... at least not until she sensed a certain giddy amusement from from her dragon. Under other circumstances, she might have laughed at the sight of Eyrdith trapping the pload they had been chasing between the claws of both hands, tail swishing to and fro almost like that of a cat playing with a mouse. The pload turned circles inside its living cage croaking in confusion. "It has been following you ever since you finally got it to spit out the egg." "Oh Eyrie..." "Don't call me that. I'm not eerie." The playful vibe faded into one that was a mix of indignation at the monicker and warmth as the dragon picked up on her rider's feelings. It seemed life in this new world had been such a blur that both human and dragon were having a minor difficulty in fully connecting. Eyrdith had her theory that it had something to do with her human's lack of confidence and how very little idle time they had so far to share and get to know each other. Perhaps when the excitement of new bonds had died down, she and all of her bonded friends could take a small vacation together and spend time making those bonds even stronger.
The saydar peeped again as if in protest that the humming had stopped. Leyora gently stroked the chick's spine and eyed the others with their saydars. The person closest to her was such a humanoid that might have sent her to the edge of terror any other time, but Eyrdith was quick to remind her that the walking skeleton was no different than she or any of the other dragon riders. The he bonded meant he was as much a brother to her as she a sister to him and the others. Leyora was dubious yet of the idea of them being family, but given the situation, she was in no position to be choosey in who to trust. Gathering her courage into one spot, Leyora shifted the chick into one arm, and used the other to brush some of the muck off of herself before approaching the skeleton. "Ahh... I beg pardon, sir. Can you help me? This saydar... I am unsure how to bring its breathing to a reasonable rate." The bird looked much better now that it had, all things considered and even swiveled its head slowly to peer at the man with its one good eye, which was copper in color, making a pretty contrast to what would be silver feathers, if they grew back properly.

Cain hadn't realized he was being followed more than just by his chicks. The girl he had saw earlier was making her way over with the much better looking saydar in her arms. Grinning on the inside, he moved to place his skull up against the saydar's chest to listen to the breaths the chick took. "Don't call me sir. I've done nothing to earn it. Name's Cain." It didn't sound like any of the ribs were broken cause the lungs seemed to be taking in air just fine. Pulling back his head, he slowly started to fell along the chick's sides. "Hmm. Could be he just needs to be calmed down some. Though you might have an asthmatic bird and in that case you need to watch him carefully. I'm really not much of a doctor, so I don't know what herbs would work if that was the case. Try rubbing his bag and if you have something like a paper bag, put it over his mouth so that way he gets some carbon dioxide in him and stop taking in so much oxygen. At this rate, he might pass out due to it."
The poor skeleton probably didn't realize that what he knew might not be the same thing she knew, but that didn't stop him from using words from the time period he came from. "Least Death doesn't have ahold of him so far. If Death was involved, you weren't going to save him. No one escapes the grave and his touch. Well...Almost no one." Moving to pet the chick if the little guy would let him, the skeleton noticed the damaged eye. "You might also want to take care of that too. I recommend removal if you can or if you can't, covering it up." Plenty of things went after dead eyeballs, though he didn't know if any was in this world. Realizing what he said, Cain hunkered down a bit sheepishly. "Sorry. You asked for my help with breathing and not the eyeball. Forgive me for overstepping." He gave her a semi low bow, showing off his slight gentleman side.

When Cain introduced himself, Leyora released a breath she had unwittingly been holding since he first leaned near her chick. "Aye, Cain, then. Some habits die hard. I am Leyora." She watched quietly as the skeleton examined the saydar. Some of the words he used were indeed unfamiliar to her but one word that stuck out to her pricked at her memory of her days studying under the apothecary. "Asthma? Mint leaves! A vile soup, but potent enough to raise the dead." Her voice trailed off as she came to realize a possibly ill-placed pun in her verbal epiphany. "I'm sorry, I'm rambling..." Reaching to her belt with her free arm, she produced a nearly empty coin pouch made of a thin scrap of leather and a much bigger bag that seemed full despite its seeming to nearly as as light as the other. She presented the nearly empty on to Cain, though. "Would this work as a bag?" as she listened for his answer, she held the other bag in her teeth and used her free hand to sift through its contents. She appeared to be bringing green leaves to her nose and smelling them, before she settled for pulling out a sprig of rosemary. "Doesn't really sound like an asthma attack, but a little rosemary couldn't hurt. At worst it won't help the breathing, but he will have pleasant dreams when he sleeps... if creatures around here dream."
As Cain spoke of Death as if it were a tangible person, Leyora shivered slightly, though a small chuckle escaped at the mention of "almost no one". She couldn't help staring into the void that existed where two eyes should be on Cain as he mentioned how best to care for the bird's eye. Once she caught herself doing so, though, she dropped her gaze to the saydar in her arm and watched as he weakly pecked apart the proffered leaves. The breathing seemed to become less labored, though Leyora wasn't sure if she could attribute that to the rosemary or all the attention that the chick was getting. Certainly, he seemed responsive to Cain's petting.
Leyora blushed and protested Cain's kind apology, however. "No need to apologize. You've overstepped nothing. Any help is greatly appreciated, especially in this strange land." She glanced at her surroundings and silently wished for a more ambient setting both for caring for her charge and for getting to know a fellow bonded. She was starting to believe that Eyrdith was right in at least that the skeleton meant no harm. Family was another thing altogether, for now, but at least he seemed kind and easier to talk to than she might have expected. "I'm not sure I could remove the eye, but I am sure I can fashion up some kind of a patch to protect it."
Eyrdith interrupted with, "We should name them. The others are naming their pets." "Them? There is only one saydar, Eyrie" An indignant sensation washed over Leyora, making her chuckle at her dragons quirks. "We are keeping the pload too. Its chirping will alert us to rain storms and lull me to sleep at night." Her tone was so firm as to be comical. "Oh, very well then, but the pload's name is Tavor for the misfortune it caused here today... and its poor luck in being trapped by you." The latter statement was thought in warm jest. Eyrdith rumbled but begrudgingly answered, "The name does have a pleasant ring to it." It was hard to tell if Cain was eying her strangely or not for the sudden fit of quiet mirth, but she smiled apologetically anyway. Her arm was getting tired, so she took care in folding the mangled chick into her free arm so that the other could rest. "It seems Erydith is impatient for names. I don't think she appreciated naming her pload Tavor for misfortune, though." Looking down at the chick tucked in her arm, she gave careful thought and then murmured, "Ayman... lucky and right handed or in this case right-eyed, I would say. What do you think?" She was intending on asking Cain, but Eyrdith also answered, "Lucky to have been found by you, I suppose? Still that name also sounds pleasant. It will have to do." Leyora found it hard to hide her amusement at Eyrdith's bruised ego, but she intended on making it up to her later. she wondered if dragons like baths and playing in large bodies of water.

Duzell was absolutely delighted by the two Saydar chicks that seemed to have adopted him. He couldn't stop laughing at Nysath, who was taking turns glaring at the four new Saydars that had just popped out of their eggs and were now running around all over him and the knight who had put the eggs next to him in the first place. With a rather unpleasant about the knight and all his female ancestors, Nysath let out a sigh of resignation turned his gaze back to the chicks. "Oh cheer up." Duzell said as he gently stroked one of his Saydars. "They're so adorable, and they actually seem to like you. You should be thrilled." Oh yes, I'm ecstatic. Is it not obvious? Duzell just shook his head and turned back to his chicks. Pointing at one, "You'll be Twain and... Dickens." Neither chick seemed displeased, or well, even interested in their names as they both stared up at Duzell and silently demanded food. He turned back to Nysath, "What do Saydars eat anyway?" Nysath said nothing. Duzell was beginning to become impatient as the silence dragged on. "What? Is it some kind of arcane secret. Let me guess, you'd tell me but you'd have to kill me?" No, I was simply trying to think of something that a Saydar would not try to eat. Their main diet is grass, seeds, leaves, fruit, etc. But if they get hungry enough they will try to take a chunk out of almost anything. Even you if you are not careful enough, I would imagine.
Duzell nodded. "Sounds good!" He scooped up Dickens and Twain and set them next to Nysath's five Saydars. "Watch them while I go find some food for them, will you. And why don't you think of some names for them while I'm gone." You name them. I could care less what the future food is called. Duzell ignored the last part of that comment. "Fine you take good care of Jane, Harper, Bronte, Fitzgerald and Crane while I'm gone." He smirked. "Make sure they're asleep by bedtime and that none of them wander off." Keep that up and I will eat them all now. Nysath snorted as one of the chicks managed to climb up onto his head. Duzell just shook his head and hoped the dragon was just full of hot air.
After a bit of searching Duzell came across a bush of berries that looked small enough for the chicks to eat. A quick check with Nysath confirmed they were not poisonous so Duzell began to collect them. From the other side of the bush Duzell heard a long, loud croak. Walking around to the other side, Duzell saw one of the ploads from earlier. It had been tied up with a vine and forgotten over here in all the confusion. Duzell dashed back over to Nysath to drop of the berries for the chicks. "Make sure they all get enough to eat. I'll be right back." Do I even want to know what you are up to? Duzell didn't answer as he was too busy grabbing one of the unused vines and making his way back over to the abandoned pload. Carefully Duzell used the spare vine to fashion a harness for the pload. He then untied the pload's legs so it could move. It attempted to hop away but Duzell held fast to the vine harness. After a few minutes of struggling the pload finally gave up and let Duzell lead it back to where Nysath and the chicks were. Duzell smiled wide. "Nysath, I have a present for you."

Seroth let loose a bestial growl as he saw Amerlan stalking towards one of the Ploads. "Do not even think about doing that. Come back here and leave that vial thing be!" His four chicks, and the two that Amerlan had deposited on him, just before she crept off to do something she knew he would loath, scattered in a peeping mess. Feathers flew and little heads were banged together as the Saydar chicks tried to escape the growling beast who they were certain was going to eat them.
Noticing the chicks distress Seroth crooned and tried to settle them down. He hated seeing his new 'babies' so upset. "How about I get you some food loves?" Scooping up the chicks in one paw he carefully lumbered through the carnage towards the edge of the clearing. There just happened to be a few fruit trees, with early fruit adorning them. They weren't ripe enough to be good tasting to most humans or humanoids, but for starving chicks they would do just fine. Taking down 4 of the fruits he sectioned them into little bits, perfectly sized for tiny Saydar bites. To each of the chicks he gave a small allotment of the cut of fruit and held the rest back. He didn't want them to get bloated after all.
With Seroth being distracted by the chicks it gave Amerlan the perfect opportunity to sneak off and collect her prize. Creeping through the bodies of the Ploads she checked each one for signs of life. She needed a specimen in good shape. A few she found were croaking in agony. While they had been the cause of the death of so many babies she couldn't just leave them like that. With a quick swipe of her knife she put them out of their misery and moved on.
There! She saw it just ahead. A Pload was huddling, more like cowering in the remains of a Saydar nest. Nothing appeared to be wrong with it and it was even magnificently colored! The bulk of it was a light green, slightly blue tinted color, with pinkish spots across its back and stripes along the sides, and its legs were a light purpley-blue.
Creeping up slowly she used her tail to balance herself. The light swishing of her tail must have caught the Ploads eyes for it immediately tried to hop off. She wouldn't let it get away however. Springing she leaped on the the Pload and held tight, even making sure the mouth could not open and spew plasma onto her. Keeping the Pload tight to her chest she stood and ran back to where she had left her things with Seroth, except the Dragon was no longer there. Stuffing the Pload into her bag she tied it shut. The fabric would breathable enough that the thing wouldn't suffocate, and she doubted it would risk spitting Plasma and getting the substance onto itself.
Throwing her pack with the Pload inside over her should she made her way over to where she could see Seroth with the chicks. He certainly wasn't going to be happy when he discovered the contents of the bag.
