The sun beamed down at full force and the day would have been unbearably hot had it not been for the shade of the trees and the coolness of the nearby brook. Duzell savored the clean air of the forest, not fouled with chemicals like the city air he was used to. "See Nysath, I told you today would be the perfect day for a picnic. You did tell everyone they were invited to join us, didn't you?" Nysath grumbled as Duzell unfolded a blanket and started unpacking food. Yes, although I really do not understand why you want to do this. You hardly know any of these people. Duzell smiled. "Silly, that's why I'm doing this! Eating together is the best way to get to know people."
Nysath sighed and projected his thoughts to the other bonded dragons. It would appear my bonded is going through with this picnic. If your humans want to eat with him we are here. Nysath projected an image of the forest and then a more accurate series of images of their exact location. He also requests that you bring food to share, if possible. Nysath glanced over at his bonded, who was working on catching a few fish to cook. Is there anything else you need me to tell them? Duzell looked up and smiled at the dragon. “Just come and bring food. It’s just a picnic Nysath, nothing too complicated.” Good, then you will not need me. Call for me when you have finished. Before Duzell could even ask where he was going Nysath was gone.
“Overgrown lizard, the picnic will be fun without you anyway.” Duzell said to no one in particular. He turned back to his picnic blanket to double check that he had everything in place and went back to fishing. Wait a second. He turned back to the blanket. Yes, he was sure he had brought a thing of berries. And yet, they were nowhere to found. He looked around; maybe he had simply misplaced them. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a blurry shape dash up to the blanket. He turned to stare at it and its big eyes stared right back at him. It was small, no bigger that his fist, and covered in fluffy brown fur. “Oh my” Duzell whispered. “You’re adorable.”
The thing let out a small squeak, grabbed the apple it was standing next to and dashed off. “What the…” Duzell heard a chorus of squeaks behind him and turned to see a group of the featherweights carrying off an entire plate of roasted meat. On every side Duzell’s picnic was being assailed by hungry, round fluff balls. “Nysath!” Duzell shouted, but either the dragon was too far away or else uninterested in helping Duzell with his dilemma to come to his aid. As Duzell ran over to stop the group of them from carrying of his makeshift fishing pole another group started trying to move the entire picnic blanket. They weren’t particularly strong, but their speed more than made up for it. Not to mention their sheer numbers. There seemed to be no end to the fuzzy creatures. There was even one on his boot, trying to steal the laces out of it. He gently shook the creature off his boot and with a curse went running after the blanket.
In a meadow not too far away Nysath chuckled. Did I forget to mention it was Echee mating season? Oh well.

Post by Terris on Jun 16, 2014 19:28:38 GMT -8
It was fair to say that Terris was having a busy morning. He has persuaded Akanth to take him to some of the less traversed areas of the world, and he had not been disappointed by the wonders their new paradise was unveiling. They had stopped a while at the Ebon Drifts, a desert of black sand dunes, and Terris had encountered animals he had not yet seen in this strange new world. There were all manner of hardy creatures here, herd of antelope of various sizes, birds, other small mammals and a lot of scurrying insects and reptiles.
Terris had a keen eye for what was good to eat, and decided a few of the smaller antelope would probably feed him, Akanth and Whisper for a day or two, so, with practiced precision, he had loosed two arrows and felled two fat bucks. It was those he was roasting in the crude fire pit he had constructed when Akanth had gotten the call for a picnic.
"Good thing these beasts are almost done cooking" he said to his two companions.
Whisper grumbled his blue eyes gazing at the meat longingly. You aren't really going to make me wait until we are at this gathering to eat, are you? he asked.
"Well, no. I suppose not. You can have a shank now, to tide you over, and when we get there you can eat more" he conceeded. He figured if the cub was fed now, it may be less likely for him to strike out at anyone while they were gathered. The cub was prone to intermittent and completely random bouts of aggression and Terris did not want anyone to be injured by the usually jovial cub.
The youngster all but pounced on the carcass, ripped the shank off it and curls up between Akanth's paws to devour it. Watching him wolf his meal down was a sight to behold. When they had bonded, whisper had been a half-starved little waif, and now, even though he was recovering well and putting on weight, he could be a real pig about food.
Terris waited til he was sure the carcasses were done cooking, removed them from the hot coals, and placed them in two heavy sacks, ready for transport, which he then hung around Akanth's sturdy neck. The dragon lifted a forepaw, allowing the cat and human to easily mount, then took off in the direction of the picnic.
Akanth sorely wanted to teach his rider the art of going between but figured now was not the time, especially with food that was supposed to stay hot, so flew lazily toward the place where the picnic would be. He descended in slow circles, and released a chuckle in Terris' head at the sight before them.
Small rodents had well and truly caused havock at the picnic, all the food had been taken, as had many other important things....evan Duzell's shoelaces did not appear to be safe. He landed, waited for Terris to dismount, and took off again, just out of reach of the devious little Eechee. He did not want them scurrying all over his hide.
Whisper, it seems was in his element, the little cat was crouched low, butt sticking up in the air and wiggling as he attempted to pounce on one creature, then another, with little success...these skills were still developing, and the rodents were to quick...for now.
Terris wandered over to Duzell, careful not to step on anything that might go crunch, and cocked an amused eyebrow.
"Guess the picnic is off?" he asked with a grin.

Dorth was currently watching the fermentation process as Cain sat there covered in something that looked suspiciously like pload plasma. Least it wasn't burning, but Cain didn't exactly look ready to mingle and party when his bond informed him of the lovely picnic that was going on. Time to get you all cleaned up my skeleton bonded. "I don't like-" He didn't get to finish that sentence as Dorth picked him and went to go dunk him in the river for a bath. "I really think you enjoy tossing me around too much." Oh hush my skeleton and just enjoy.
It wasn't long that Cain was so clean he was all glittery with the sheen of water and he vowed to roll around in the grassy area when he got there. He wasn't meant to be shiny or look like some demented fairy that appeared to steal your soul or some other such nonsense. Landing on the ground, Cain tumbled off and made it look like an accident as he got at least his lower half to stop shining like some sort of lighthouse. A laugh escaped Dorth's snout as the Echee ran around with all sorts of stuff. Looks like you came just in time Cain. I'll leave you now. "You are not going to be helping out?" Oh no. I don't touch echee's during mating season. I don't need them crawling all over me. Try to stay in one piece my Cain. Cain did not like the sound of those words as Dorth took off and left him there.
Least he wasn't the only one here as he spotted Terris and Duzell. Looking at the fuzzy little things, Cain rubbed his skull and started to go after the ones that already had some stuff. "Lovely place for a picnic. Even a lovely day. If you can ignore the fact that these little...Whatever the hell they are, are stealing everything in sight." He didn't know much about echee and Dorth wasn't exactly forthcoming, but he will learn from experience probably fairly soon.
"Also. Sorry for not bringing anything, but I can't really cook so Dorth wisely decided not to let me poison you all." He took a flying leap at one of the echee to see if he could catch the little fluff ball.
Good thing he weighed about as much as a small child (if that) or the echee would have to worry about being squished as well as being chase.

Seroth held the bag open as Amerlan tossed down a few more fruits. The bag was well over half way full, so Amerlan judged it plenty to take to the picnic, after all, others would be bringing food as well. Hopping down from her place in the tree she landed with ease. This was the closest she had gotten to the trees of her homeland. An eruption of nostalgia swirled within her, if it wasn't for Seroth's careful pull on her tail she might have sat their all day thinking about what it was like back in her old home.
"You home is here now. Don't feel sad. Besides, there's a picnic full of food just waiting for us." Seroth tried to pull a toothy grin, and he managed just slightly.
Amerlan laughed and climbed onto Seroth, slinging the bag of fruit onto her lap. Take off was smooth and the flight was short, just over a few miles to the west. Dismounting she was just about to comment to Seroth about how her landing were improving when the dragon just took off! The Dragons form had been concealing the jumbled mess behind him, but it was clear after he left why he had done so. Tiny. Fuzzy. Things. Amerlan squealed with joy as she watched the little ones run to and fro snatching up what ever they could. Some had fruit in their paws, some meat, and one even looked like it was carrying off a jewel!
Thinking on her feet she knew she just had to have one of these creatures, or even a few if she could manage it. Keeping the bag of fruit held tight to her chest she scrambled off towards the tree line. It seemed a few other riders were there too, good they could keep the small fuzzies busy while she constructed an apparatus to catch a few. Weaving together a few branches she made a makeshift corral about to feet in diameter. It was short and the fuzzies could surely climb out, but that wasn't her goal.
Making her way back over to the picnic she set the apparatus down and placed a few pieces of fruit in the middle. The thought was that the fuzzies. "Echee", Seroth corrected her. That the Echee would climb into the coral and eat giving her a chance to say hello and maybe befriend a few of them. Worse case scenario she'd be out a few few fruits and she'd have to smuggle an Echee home, but she didn't think it'd come to that.
Seeing endless wave of Echee after Echee she'd be surprised if a few of them didn't go home with each of them. She chuckled at Cain trying to catch them with his bare hands. "Bet I'll catch more than you!" She called out. Though the skeleton man's way did seem much more fun than her own. If she wasn't afraid of crushing a few of them she may have just joined in on the pouncing.

As promised, once the rest of the dead ploads and saydars were buried and some rest was to be had, Leyora sought to repay Eyrdith for the semi-unintentional rub against the dragon's ego. She set in her mind an image of a large body of water, warm white sand, and fruit trees in the distance and asked Eyrdith to fly her to the the place that most resembled such a place. Once there, she scrounged to find some stiff stemmed plants, breaking them to a certain length and tying them together with a thin vine. It wasn't her best work, but it would do for today. She took a running plunge into the water and laughed as Eyrdith did much the same, only in flight. The wave that the dragon's wings cut through the water was unbelievably high and served well in thoroughly dousing the playful pair. Leyora used her homemade brush (which looked more like a hand broom) to wash Eyrdith's tall body and scratch all the itchy places just right. It seemed like hours had gone by as they frolicked in the water, before Eyrdith shared an announcement regarding a picnic. The tones implied mischief was afoot, but given their most recent activities, Leyora laid it on being still wound up from the fun that they were reluctant to leave. Still a picnic meant food and Leyora found a quiet pleasure in watching others eat the food that she prepared. Short notice and, as of yet, a limited amount of tools made it hard to decide on a menu, though. Looking about, Leyora said plaintively, "I need fruit. A lot of it." The image in her head told Eyrdith more than her words, however and soon the pair were foraging through the woods for suitable snacks. Eventually they had everything that was needed and Eyrdith plucked some broad leafed plants to use as a blanket, so no sand could invade the treats. Leyora pulled out a small, unimpressive dagger and started first with the watermelon, using the tip of the blade to draw leaves around half of the barrel of the massive fruit. The marks were merely guidelines for where to cut first, but as she pressed on, soon chunks of melon were removed and succulent bit cut into cubes. The seeds and excess rinds were fed to Ayman partly as a treat and partly to keep the quickly recovering saydar from raiding the snack meant for the humaniods. Before too long, she had carved the melon into a useable basket which she filled with chunks and slices from many other types of fruit that had been gathered. The only thing left was to sheer away the color of the rind to draw the patterns she saw in her head. The handle of the basket was first as she finished detailing ornate leaves. Next she carefully cut diamonds into both ends of the melon, creating a floral pattern. Lastly she added a border to the edge of the basket, connecting the leaves and flowers together the fruit basket was complete. She wrapped the fruit in a couple more broad leaves, then held tightly to it and Ayman as they shimmied up Eyrdith's side and flew to the site of the picnic. Eyrdith was still giving off strong feelings of amusement when her human and saydar dismounted and joined the others. She was more interested in sunning herself and taking a nap for the time being as there would be plenty of time to tease her bonded later. Leyora was at a loss for words as she tried to close the gap between herself and the other riders. She was too busy trying to hold Ayman down so that he might not eat whatever it was that was darting here and there, with purloined bits of lunch. Opening the broad leaves to reveal the carved treasure within, Leyora grabbed something reminiscent of a slice of orange and poked it in the hungry chick's beak. Mollified, Ayman chewed quickly and noisily so that he might get another bite. One of the fuzzy critters scurried over her foot chittering wildly and in that moment she discovered the creatures were much like mice in her own world, albeit much cuter. Still, her days as a scullery maid had finely honed her dislike for rodents and much to her chagrin the first words to slide out of her mouth were, "Where did all these disgusting vermin come from?!" A moment later she blushed and shook her head. "I'm sorry, that was a terrible greeting." Hastily she popped another fruit in her saydar chick's beak to stop him from chasing another echee about. The echee, however, thankful for the reprieve, skittered up Leyora's leg, in her dress and popped out once it reached her shoulder, causing her gasp and let out a squawk of surprise. It squeaked gleefully, touched its nose to hers and then rushed down her arm and plunged right into the middle of the fruit basket. Disgusted and slightly shaken, she held the basket out and tipped her head to the side. "I suppose they aren't SO bad, but," she looked her pesky fruit bandit in the eyes, "they still don't belong IN the food. Go on. Out with you, now!" Unfortunately Ayman took that as a great excuse to stretch his little legs. He darted of after one echee and then the next. They were too fast for him, of course and he succeeded only in chasing his own stubby tail, instead. Eyrdith's mirth could felt by both bird and rider. ((200 word challenge: Disgusting = 931 words))

Duzell hardly noticed the others arrive. He was far too focused on getting his stuff back. He jumped when he heard a voice behind him. “The picnic is not off, just…umm, postponed. As soon as I get this stuff back we can eat.” He was being far too optimistic about his chances of recovering anything, but no one likes a grump so he pressed on.
Duzell may not have notice the other riders arrive, but the Echee sure did. They dashed to and fro grabbing everything they could get their little hands on. The first newcomer was so shiny! They could see themselves in his legs and chest and arms and everything! Unfortunately he had protection. The Echee squeaked at the Eld’rani cub and with cobra like speed danced out of the way of his paws. As soon as they realized they were faster than him though, it was open season on the shiny man. While a few Echee ran circles around the cub to keep it distracted a much larger group of them began scaling the Knight, their small hands searching for ways to steal his shiny clothes.
The Echee did not appreciate being leapt upon. More than one had been surprised like this and they squeaked loudly to warn the others. A solitary Echee ran up to the skeleton in an attempt to pull him off her ally, and found him much lighter than she had expected. With a gleeful squeak she called to the others to help her. A hoard of Echee descended on the man and begun carrying him off towards their nests. As they dragged him away a small fight broke out over who would get to place him in their nest. As they Echee pulled this way and that a small group of them managed to remove one of his arms. Squeaking in victory they ran off towards their tree, dividing the fingers among themselves as they ran.
The strange person’s tail was of the utmost fascination to a group of the Echee. It swished back and forth as she watched several Echee get caught in her corral. One of the Echee decided it was time of action and squeaking towards the others pounced on the waving tail. It held on for dear life and finally managed to steal one of the beautiful feathers. Following their brother’s lead two more leapt at the elfling and grabbed hold of her tail. Sensing her distraction, the Echee in the corral began taking the fruit and leaping in all directions.
One Echee had decided that stocking his nest was not the most interesting thing to do at this time. He had found paradise and he was going to build his nest right there. Nestling in the fruit basket, the defector completely forgot his mission to bring food and shines home. Without warning another Echee climbed into the fruit basket and began taking his fruit. That wouldn’t do! Getting up he shoved the other Echee out of his new nest. He poked his head out of his nest and saw others beginning to take an interest in the basket. He stared at the human he had scaled earlier and let out a short, emphatic squeak. Keep them out of my nest!
Nysath chuckled at the scene. Finally he decided to take pity on Duzell and the other riders. Dusk is in about an hour. The Echee will stop swarming and get sleepy around then. You might be able to get your stuff back once they go to sleep.

Amerlan cheered as a couple Echee made their way into the corral she had built and began to munch on the fruits. Slowly she reached down to pet one of them, but was distracted by an Echee war cry. It seemed that they had discovered Cain was light enough to be their play thing and now they were carrying him off! Giggling at the absurdity of it all she could hardly keep her balance as she crouched over the corral. "Well what did I tell ya! I've already got a couple here and they’re making off with your arm!" Her tail flicked back and forth excitedly reflecting her mirth.
Distracted by her fit of laughter she had no clue what had decided her tail feathers would be its prize. It wasn't until she felt the sharp tug on her tail, followed by a stabbing pain that she realized she was being assaulted! By pint size fur balls no less! Wincing she swung her tail around to see that there was in fact a feather missing and two tiny imps were struggling to get to more of them. She knew she could expect her tail to be slightly swollen in the morning, ripping out a feather was no joke when it still had its blood supply. A few drops of blood escaped and began to mar the rest of her blue feathers. She'd have to wash them soon or risk them being permanently stained.
Grabbing the little shits that still clung to her tail by their scruffs she held them up to her eye level, but not close enough they could get her face. "Now just what do you think you’re doing? Those aren't yours! If you must play with something go collect some bones off of that skeleton." She didn't want to risk them coming back for her tail, she had no idea if they could understand her after all, so she very carefully transferred them onto the ground and produced what looked like an overgrown cherry and some sort of apple from the bag. "You keep these and I keep my feathers. Sound like a plan?"
With those two hopefully taken care of she searched for the one who had stolen her feather. It didn't take her long to narrow in on the bright flashing of blue as an Echee scurried about. Swiftly getting to her feet she chased down the Echee until she had it scruffed like the two she had caught before, but this one would get no sweet treat. Growling she made to pluck the feather from its paws with her free hand, but was having little success. Growing ever more frustrated she hissed, "Two choices. Give it back and I maybe won't skin you. Choice two you keep it and I skin you half way and you come home with me." She chuckled darkly, the Saydar chicks were getting awfully bored lately. She bet they would enjoy a half mangled toy that couldn't escape them.

Cain let out a yell as he was dragged off. "No one is putting me in any god damned- THAT IS MY ARM!" The process of getting pulled apart wasn't a painful one. Not by a long shot, but it was just more than a little out of body to see his hand and arm being taken apart, piece by piece. In fact he was so distracted, that one of his legs went next. "Damn it to death and back." He tried to move his body and didn't succeed very well. All he did was rolled himself over in the dirt due to both limbs being on the same side of his body.
Throwing out an arm, he attempted to drag himself away before more of the little buggers got him. "I'll take that bet! Once I get my arm and leg back." He didn't know he just took a losing bet as he swore he could still feel those tickling little hands on him. They probably were too as Cain lost his other foot but kept his leg. He hated himself for it, but he was out of his league here and needed some help.
"As much as we don't know each other, I would like a little bit of- Oh Leyora! Nice fruit basket there. Didn't know there was watermelon here." Focus Cain. Focus before...Too late. Cain let out a sigh as his skull was popped off and carried away. Lucky for him he didn't seasick. "If someone would be so kind as to find me later, I'll take care of what ever pet you want me to take care of for like a week."
Hopefully someone heard him. If not...At least now they knew where the nests were.

Quickly picking the small fruit from one of the nearby trees, Rezi sighs and looks at his pitiful collection of berries and fruit. It's like this area of the forest seamed to be picked dry of berries and fruits. His blue eyes gazing down at the small amount he had, he hopes it would be enough for the gathering of small fuzzes or Echee's he saw when he looked past the trees at the gathering of other riders... And troublesome fuzzes.
He started to walk through the sparse forest, looking for more treats for the little ones. Stepping lightly on the grassy ground to avoid detection from the main group of fuzzes a few meters away, who are making chaos and a lot of noise as they feed and cause chaos. Stopping again to bend down to get some more berries he spots something. Out of the corner of his eye he sees a skull being carried of by some of the Echee's.
Rezi blinks, watching the group try and put the skull in there nest. Smiling to hide a small laugh, he carefully walks over to the group, holding out the berries and fruit he had collected, hoping to get some of the fuzzes attention so he can pick up the skull.

Terris batted at the little rodents as they scaled his armour and attempted to remove it from him. It was not that he disliked the creatures, he thought they were quite cute, but if they somehow got inside his clothes, all thell was likely to break loose, and several of them might find themselves crushed, because Terris was ticklish. Not the kind of ticklish that resulted in a mild discomfort, the kind of ticklish where a person would become incapacitated, rolling on the ground, screeching, kicking their legs ticklish.
A loud clang not long after the knight began swatting at the little pests would alert any that heard it to the fact that he had just done himself a damage. He brought his now bruised knuckle to his lips, an instinctive gesture he really did not understand. It was not like his saliva had healing properties or anything, and there were more orthodox methods of dealing with bruises, cold water, or ice being one of them. He shrugged, abandoned his flailing about, and dropped to the ground and began to roll, hoping that the threat of being crushed would deter the little beasts from climbing inside his suit of armour.
Whisper, meanwhile, was getting dizzy. The echee were running him in circles so fast that his eyes were nearly crossed. He so desperately wanted to eat them all, and while they were too fast for him to catch now...maybe soon they would tire...okay, that was not going to happen. He flopped on the ground, defeated and feeling ill from all the spinning he had done, the world swirling before his eyes, a miriad of blurred colours. It would be some time before he'd be back in action. He just hoped the little pests would leave his dignity in tact by not perching on him. The shame of having been bested by his food source was one thing, the utter humiliation of having them then climb all over him was another. He could recover from the former, but the latter? Unlikely.
While Whisper was being defeated by the echee, Terris had decided it was probably prudent to remove his armour, let the little monsters take it for now. He would get it back later. He began unfastening the straps, dropping various pieces to the ground, where it was snatched up and carried off. He finished, finally with his breastplate, which dropped to the floor with a loud clang.
He stood then, barefoot and bare-chested in the middle of what was meant to be the picnic area, and looked around helplessly. The echee appeared to be chaos incarnate, scurrying everywhere, picking up whatever they could find...wait, was that Cain they were carrying off? Yes, yes it was! That wouldn't do at all!
The knight sprang into action, following the rodents that had taken off with the skeleton's skull, he figured the head was the most important part, after all...or was that right? Oh well, considering he'd lost track of the rest of the skeleton, the head would have to do. He pursued it, and ran directly into Rezi, losing the echee as they stowed Cain's skull in its final hiding place.
"Oh, hello!" he said to the stranger. "I don't suppose you saw where the little buggers hid that skull did you?"

There was so much going on all at once, and for the moment, Leyora was far less amused by it than Eyrdith was. It seemed if she wasn't hopping around to avoid stepping on echee and her saydar, she was yelping and trying to shake echees off of her limbs as they made for her precious fruit basket. The first echee to claim her basket was more than enough, though she had to laugh a little at its attempt to protect what it had found. Its commanding squeak was a grand gesture that Leyora just couldn't ignore. "Alright, alright! You can stay, but you better not make any messes in there." She eyed the rodent suspiciously, then found a conveniently placed tree stump that stood almost to her chest and set the fruit basket atop of it. She was debating on fashioning some sort of a pen, similar to what another rider had done, only this one would be to keep the little critters out.
Cain's traveling voice distracted her though. "Wha...? Oh thank you!" She had to do a double take, however as a well-kept, ivory femur floated past her amidst the sea of fur. "Oh heavens! Don't fall apart on me now, friend!" Frustrated with her saydar for getting underfoot and only making matters worse, she scooped the chick up and stared into his one good eye. "Alright Ayman! you want to chase fur balls? Then you chase those!" She tucked him under one arm and used to other to point at the echee that were already trying to climb the stump. "You leave our fruity friend alone and maybe it will share the food with you later, but no other critters can have that stump!" She had no idea if the bird understood her or not, but she had never had much trouble in her own land with getting animals to understand her. Whether they chose to obey or not was an entirely different story, though.
It seemed Ayman was more fond of fruit than meat, for when she sat the saydar down, he when straight for the stump making the most unusual noises, somewhere between a honk and an angry peep. He stretched his long silver neck out, snapping at the echee, but never actually hurting them. tiny wings beat furiously as he made laps around the stump, keeping his dead eye pointing near the tree, so that he could see his attackers. Meanwhile it seemed the fruity echee was taking care of the few that slipped past Ayman's guard. Leyora reflected that the two actually make a pretty good team.
When a finger bone floated past her, though, she snapped out of her reverie and surfed the crowd, filching a bone here and there. Several bones slipped away from her reach, but those that she successfully collected, she tucked into her dress, which she was now holding as a makeshift sack. Looking up once she saw a stranger and the knight making their way towards her. "I think the rest of Cain went that way." She nodded in the general direction that the swarm seemed to be carrying him. "You know, if we ever get settled in, someone should really document this. Assuming that we never leave this land, knowing this might save our descendants some trouble." Leyora blushed and decided now was not the time to admit that she knew nothing of how to read or write.

Arlene was bringing the cole slaw... and the stew with no signs of meat. Though there were mysterious healing cuts on her arms and she looked like she'd fall down if her dragon let go. Tied to the dragons back was several leaves broad enough to use like beach blankets. Where she got the normal vegetables and the cuts on her arms couldn't possibly be linked could they?
"So sorry mashing the potatoes would have taken too long... they weren't even boiled yet. Noone happens to have about 20 acres cleared they can put a hutch-aviary on do they? Seems the town went right on a rabbit warren collapsing it and the hares don't think their lesser cousins are smart enough to make the migration to safety away from hawks on their own but of course the pregnant females and their bucks can't really be moved so need new nests." Someone get this girl some orange juice before she lands flat on her... too late the mage went splat face first in the mud. After all in her half delirious state she probably thought you were just playing a game of keep away.

( OOC: EDIT: Read ya reply wrong. Sorry about that ^^""")
Stumbling to the side as Terris ran into him, he puts his foot down on the grassy ground to steady himself. Sharply bringing his pale face up to meet the others. He eyes the thick bush where the skull disappeared into and nods. Standing up, swaying a little to get his balance, he looks at there surroundings. Bushes, thickets and grass... All perfect hiding spots. Blinking his eyes as he absently watches more little furies scatter into there nests.
Hearing someones voice, he snaps his head to the side, eying Leyora's arms... full of bones? His expression quickly turns to one of a startled person. Quickly putting the fruit and berries back into his bag to keep them for the furies later... If there is any.
Tapping Terris's ( <- I don't know how to make ya name plural.) armor with a smile, he gestures towards her, moving away slightly as he walks towards her.

Duzell had finally managed to catch up with the picnic blanket. It was mostly shoved into a small hole at the base of one of the trees. Careful not to kneel on anything squishy, Duzell got down to one knee and yanked to the blanket. “Give me that!” He managed to pull the blanket free as well as the two Echee that had been making it into a nest. They started at him and he glared back. Unfortunately having them so close to his face put them within reaching distance of the one item they had not yet managed to steal, his glasses. One quick move from the Echee fixed that and the two leapt into a nearby tree carrying their new prize. That was it. Duzell was done. Slumping back against a tree Duzell let out a groan. “I give up! Picnic’s ruined beyond hope.” Just then a particularly tiny Echee dropped from a tree and landed in the middle of Duzell’s shirt. It seemed a bit traumatized by the long fall and despite Duzell’s best efforts to pry it off the little thing would not let go. Sighing Duzell petted the little Echee. “Guess I did get something good out of today.” The Echee had no clue what the tailed girl was trying to say to them, but they did recognize the tone. That was the kind of tone that gets them eaten. Luckily for them she set them down and even gave them food! The pair of Echee quickly forgot all about the feathers and went about devouring their new prizes. The one holding onto the feather was much more resistant to letting go of his prize. He glared at the human and clung tighter to his treasure as she tried to take it from him. He clung tighter to the feather as the person growled at him, squeaking at her with as much bravery as he could muster. He took it; he was going to keep it. Sensing that they were at a stalemate the Echee decided to use a tactic that had kept his brothers off his food. He slobbered all over the bottom of the feather. If this human were anything his family she wouldn’t want it back now and he could keep his pretty treasure. He stared at her, challengingly. It was her move now. The fat Echee in the fruit basket stared down at his quite helpful companion, Together they had successfully driven off any would be invaders from his new nest. Staring down at the Saydar he figured he ought to thank the little guy. Also, now that the other Echee had stopped trying to swarm them he was a bit concerned that his partner would turn on him and try for his nest. With a theatrical swoop of his little hand he dropped a few chunks of fruit down to the hungry Saydar. Good work deserved a reward. A small group of Echee took notice of the woman lying face down in the middle of their clearing. Was she dead? A brave Echee climbed onto her back and sniffed. Didn’t smell dead. The rest of the group was far more interested in the thing of cole slaw. It didn’t look like normal food, but it smelled like it could be food so they wandered over to the bowl. Cautiously, one of the Echee reached into the bowl and took a bit. Delicious! With a squeak he jumped strait into the bowl and the rest did the same. The one still sitting on the not-dead woman's back pulled on a few of the red hairs that were escaping her braid. Deciding they would look excellent in his nest he yanked on them and ran off. The Echee abandoned the shiny person like rats off a sinking ship when they saw him go down. They formed a circle around him and waited until he stopped rolling about. Those that had been circling the cub moved over to watch the knight roll around. Now that he was incapacitated they had no further use of him. No one wanted something that smelled of Eld’rani in their nests. As soon as the knight’s armor came off dozens of Echee swarmed to take it. It had barely hit the ground before it was gone, swept off by hordes of fluffballs for their nests. Bones had been scattered and divided into nearly as many nests as there were bones. A few had been rescued and the Echee squeaked angrily at the humans who had stolen them. They followed the girl with the dress/sack of shinies, never taking their eyes off of her. The group of Echee that had been carrying the skull had been greatly distracted by the newcomer and his delicious berries, all save one. This lone Echee struggled to roll the skull into a hollow at the base of the tree. Finally after much pushing and squeaking she finally managed to get her treasure inside. Heart swelling with triumph she let out a victorious squeak and went to work converting the treasure into a new nest. Luckily it had plenty of holes for her to climb in and out. She dragged some moss and feathers and other soft items inside to sleep on as well as a bit of food for when she woke up from her victory nap. The group that had stayed behind with the newcomer quickly devoured the small handful of berries and now was searching for more. Since he had brought those he must have more, right? The Echee certainly thought so and began climbing the man, searching for where he must have hidden the rest of the food. A few Echee soon located the berries he had stashed in his bag and quickly got to work devouring them. The rest, finding nothing, jumped off the newcomer and began scale the other man. Maybe he had food? As the Echee swarmed this way at that, the sun began to set. Soon the nocturnal predators would be out and every Echee knew better than to stay out after dark. Gathering up the last of their treasures, the Echee that were not distracted by the humans began to start heading back to their nests. Leyora's arms were starting to ache and her dress could only hold so much, what with having rescued both shoulder blades, joints and all the major limbs. The ribcage, she slid up her arm and then toddled back to the stump with. It was an awkward fit, but she managed to set the ribs over the watermelon basket. She could only imagine what was running through the mind of the fat echee that was still living up inside the basket. She was proud to see the little critter sharing fruit with Ayman, though. "You just might be alright, Chubs." She winked at the critter and then sighed in exasperation as a few persistent echee still scrambled against her ankles. "But you guys are becoming a nuisance! Get down!! I don't want to step on you." The last sentence was actually almost a whine, because she was getting hungry and tired, fast.
She couldn't let her new found friend down, though, so sucking in a deep breath, Leyora caught a second wind and resumed hunting some of Cain's smaller pieces. Seeing something white hidden in the bushes, she knelt down and brushed some leaves away to reveal a surprisingly still intact pelvis bone. She groaned inwardly as she realized she had no decent way to carry a bone that size, now. There were indecent measures that could be taken though and as the few echee near her were now trying to reclaim the bone, practically won out. She scooped the bone up, gently shaking the echee from it and then fitted the pelvis upon her head as though it were some sort of crown. Flustered the small herd of echee tried once more to hop inside her dress-made-sack. She wasn't sure but she thought one succeeded. She just couldn't find it.
Exasperated, Leyora decided if there was on in there it could just stay there until she got Cain sorted back out... literally. hunting and picking through bushes and large clumps of grass, Leyora thought she had found a majority of the bones. The only ones left, that she knew of were the skull, which she simply had no place for in her dress or on her person without raising some disturbing questions, and a few toe and finger bones. She managed to find one unfortunate finger sticking out at her from a hole in a tree. It was further up than she dared climb and though by now most of the echee had vacated the area, she did not trust those that still lingered near her. In the distance she could still see the stranger and the knight, though she had no clue what they were up to. Her head was all foggy from exhaustion.
Since she knew that the knight and Cain seemed to get along well enough, Leyora sank to her knees and leaned against the tree to rest and called out to the knight. "Beg pardon! Sir.. uh.. Sir Knight? Might I get a bit of help over here?" She would let him finish whatever it was that he was doing before explaining her situation.
Spying the man that had put this picnic together, she said to him, "Are all your events so lively?" She chuckled softly and closed her eyes, while waiting for some help to arrive.
