Duzell laughed as the paws reached out of the basket and tried to grab him. He gently placed the basket on the ground and allowed its contents to spill out. The yellow male jumped out first and immediately went after Duzell’s shoelaces. He named that one Lemon Drop as he watched the blue female climb out, a bit more cautious and with more delicate footwork than her basket mate. Sapphire soon joined him in killing Duzell’s shoelaces however. He tore his eyes away from the adorable kittens to answer Leyora. “Well, we’ll just have to teach them not to eat the Echee. I think it will be nice to have some kittens around the Inn, although I’d be just as happy to keep Lemon Drop and Sapphire at my house.”

Amerlan's eyes lit up as the basket was given to her. Greedily she pulled the covers off to reveal two small, very distinctly colored kitten. Cradling the basket in one arm she reached in with her free hand and stroked one gently on the forehead. It growled softly at her and leaned back, taking her finger into its sharp kitten teeth. Yelping she drew her hand back. "Got some good teeth on you huh." She laughed and reached her hand back in. This time she went for the belly. Wiggling her fingers around in a tickling motion she laughed as the kitten grabbed her fingers and tried to kill them. A few of the sharper bites and scratches made her wince, but the little things were too darn cute!
Little did Amerlan know she hadn't been alone in leaving her house. One of her Dragons had followed her down the lane to the Tavern, but instead of following her bonded Aelluth picked up on something curious. She was currently busy stalking around the other side of the tavern smelling for something. She knew the scent from somewhere, but couldn't pin the exact source. It almost smelled like the front of the Tavern where everyone else was gathered. "What had Amerlan said was going to be here? Pups? Kits? No. Hmm. Kittens! That's right her annoy squeal had definitely said kittens." Lifting her head into the air she tried to find where exactly the source of the kitten smell was coming from.
There! Just under the lip of the Tavern wall were two tiny, mewling kittens. Gently she stalked up to them and examined them. They were a bit dirty, but otherwise seemed fit. "What are you two doing so far from the others? A little adventure?" She knew the kittens wouldn't answer her back, but was surprised when one of them dropped the body of a very large firefly at her paws. "Ah a hunting expedition, the best kind of adventure." Chuckling she gently picked up the kittens in her maw. "Best get you two back to the others."
Walking back to the the front of the tavern she found Amerlan holding a basket in her arms and Terris laughing next to her. Lumbering up to Terris she set the two kittens down at his feet. "I believe these belong to you. I retrieved the from around the other side of the Tavern, seems like they discovered the joy of the hunt." Walking away from her bonded she found a nice place to rest off to the side. She would wait until Amerlan was ready and give her a ride home.
Amerlan giggled at Terris and sent her bond a wave of thanks. "Looks like you won't be rid of them after all. Those two look pretty attached to you!" Her own kittens had settled down in the basket and were now grooming each other contentedly. "I guess I am a bit eager huh." She smiled sheepishly. "I've always wanted a cat, but never got the chance back in my home world."

Post by Anari on Aug 6, 2014 3:07:39 GMT -8
After making the semi-hazardous trek through the desert towards the town, something that she had preferred to do despite any offers to the contrary as she wanted some time to think things through, Anari stood looking at the collection of structures, feeling a bit like a ghost for the utter unfamiliarity of the scene. It was a bit smaller than her hometown, though not as small as some of the villages she’d seen in her travels, but by far she was used to more activity from a place like this. Where were the people out shopping? Children running around playing? She stood there watching for a few minutes, a feeling nagging at her, until she realized what it was: where was the watch out on patrol? Her deep blue eyes darted about as she verified not one city protector was walking the streets, as she used to do for so long.
“Well, this town is pretty new,” she murmured to herself. “And if everyone comes her from another world like I did, the population might not be that big.” She pushed the thoughts from her mind for the now. Shelter, rest, good food, those were forefront in her mind… that and a solid, clean bath. She’d found a small oasis and scrubbed the worst of the grime and dirt from her, and cleaned her injuries, but to actually have a real bath seemed a luxury she’d almost forgotten. Surely there was an inn or bed and breakfast somewhere that would accept her two coins for a night’s stay. Even if the currency here was different, the coins were pure silver and certainly had some worth.
Strolling through town, Anari had to note the differences in what she’d known for all of her live compared with what her eyes now saw. Gone were all the symbols reminding people of the Highlord’s control. She saw a structure in the distance that might have been a temple, but it lacked the emblems of the draconic deities that waited to judge men and women for their lives. She wasn’t sure if it looked inviting or not, but any temple would always have a small, warm place in her heart from being raised in one. She definitely made a note to check it out later, to satisfy her own curiosity if nothing else. Then she laughed aloud. To satisfy her curiosity indeed! Slowly it was dawning on the woman that she actually had the freedom to do as she pleased, fearing no dragon or soldier or Highlord’s wrath! In a roundabout way, being captured was the best thing that had ever happened to her. Smiling, even not minding that she limped as she walked (though those events she could have done without!) she began heading towards the centermost point of town, since that would be most likely where the inn would be.
The sounds of laughter and talking diverted her briefly, as she saw what looked like the inn, and a gathering of people at another structure nearby, perhaps a tavern? It looked like there was definitely some sort of happening going on. Normally Anari wasn’t one to just barge in, but she saw a familiar face, Terris, and he seemed to be at the center of the whole thing, so with that reassurance she drew quietly near. It looked like he was handing out baskets, and by the creatures the others were handling they held kittens of some sort! The little things made her smile – though the sight of a small cat person caught her off guard, and a… was that a skeleton?! She felt a moment of alarm, but no one appeared startled or frightened by the walking dead’s presence, so perhaps it was alright. She would just try to catch Terris and discreetly ask. Because otherwise, she knew her heavy flail would be quite effective against bone.
As she got closer, a bit of motion caught her trained watchman’s eye. One of the unattended baskets was rocking to and fro with particular vigor, as if its occupants were trying to hatch an escape. Just before it tipped over, she reached out a hand to the edge to stop it.
“Terris,” she called over, laughingly, “I think you about had a pair of escapees here. Ow!” A tiny paw had reached out and swatted at her with sharp little claws. “Quite a rascal, aren’t you?” She smiled at the knight, showing no harm done. “I came to see if I might find a place to stay, and I’m glad I see a familiar face. Don’t suppose you know if the inn is open and has vacancies?”

Arlene laughs picking up her pair of kittens snuggling them both. "At least, you're both pretty little ladies. No big bruiser toms to come courting and just leave after the next generation is conceived. Not that I'm against kittens but toms have a habit of spraying if not fixed..." She snuggled into the fur of the kittens sighing a bit.

Fainche pushed in to the tavern. Back home, it was one of the community centers for the recent gossip though hopping the ocean to Canada that was definitely an eye opener. The lights were on and the shingle hung so she had to assume they were open. Her breath came out in a low whistle as she looked at the damages. Someone probably was going to need some nails forged and a good set of tools to fix that mess. At least fire seemed to be back towards preCainite damage to her skin. Last thing she wanted was to self immolate working a forge. It was going to be so good to get her hands back in that... well after her right hand scabbed over since she injured it punching a tree trying to find out how bad it was.
