When Terris awoke on the cool, crisp morning, he did not expect to see two male saydar sitting in their pen on top of a couple of large piles of rocks. This behaviour was out of the ordinary for the two birds to say the least, and, when he stepped into their enclosure a few hours later, a bucket of chopped greens dangling over one arm, and they did not come running, he knew for sure there was either something terribly wrong, or he had somehow slipped into a warped reality. Saydar were always hungry, you just couldn't fill them.
"Akanth! Akanth! There's something wrong with the boys!" he called to his dragon, who was hovering above almost an instant. He landed, careful not to knock over the hapazardly constructed fence, to peer at the two birds. Stupid, the larger of the two, hissed angrily, his eyes glaring a molten hot fury at the dragon who dared to invade his personal space. As soon as Stupid's attention was taken away from the task of incubating his rocks, Sarge, the smaller male extended his neck and promptly stole as many rocks as he safely could, fluffing himself around them, looking somewhat smug. Stupid didn't seem to notice.
Akanth laughed, his eyes whirling with mirth.
There is nothing wrong here, they have just gone broody, it is time for them to mate, and raise clutches of their own. I bet the other males are feeling the same way. You need to separate them now so they don't steal each other's eggs, then one at a time bring the females to them. I'll go off and see if anyone else wants to bring females here, and check on the status of the other males. If we are lucky, we'll be able to get 30 eggs to each male, which means more food for me! I mean us...us and without another word, he was gone, leaving Terris to separate the two birds in whatever way he could.
By the time he was done, his own three females were showing quite an interest, so he quickly escorted Lady into Stupid's pen and Nell into Sarge's pen, leaving Tika unattended for the moment. The lone female sat around looking quite folorn and Terris couldn't help but feel a little sorry for her.
"Its okay, Tika, we'll find you a boyfriend soon enough" he said reassuringly to the bird.

Arlene started to round up the sayder belonging to her land. She'd noticed a couple of the guys were rolling clumps of clay and when it was explained that Terris was also having issues because spring was in the air it only made sense to bring the communal flocks together. She poured a mild sedative into their water so they would be easier to transport. Even easier would be if there were carts, but beggars couldn't be chosers. She wove large fronds into a makeshift tarp and the dragon laid each drugged sayder on the almost fabric before taking flight though they'd probably get a bit bruised on the way to Terris's, but it was the best she could do.
She braided her hair as she followed as best she could on the ground. Good thermals meant her dragon got far ahead of her however despite the fact she made good time for a ground bound creature. She stepped down the lane trying to remember which house he'd moved into. Anarith laid each drugged bird down carefully and sat on her haunches before staring at Terris like "where exactly do you want them?" After all, was just 4 brown birds, a pied, and a black all laying in a row drugged so they didn't stress and break their fool necks from panicking at being carried in dragon claws.
Arlene finally finds the place and swallows hard. "I'm sorry for barging in but Anarith said spring was in the air for your birds too. Genetic diversity is never a bad thing right? I'll split any eggs, if you can keep them separated seeing as I mostly got boys." She cringed listening to herself babble on but she wasn't exactly invited and had just barged in on his own flock.

Seroth looked proudly at his 'babies'. No longer were they tiny little chicks. Each bird had grown into a fine specimen, though a few were on the scrawny side. However that was okay, he had no intention of eating these Saydar. Their babies on the other hand he could make no promises about. With food being less abundant since the creation of the town they would need every available advantage when came to raising their own food.
Today something seemed different though. The girls looked a bit bloated and the boy had been running back and forth looking for any object he could find to stick into a pile. Looking curious at the birds it didn't click right away what was going on. "Amerlan. Could you come over here? What are my babies doing?"
Seroth sounded quite a bit concerned and this spurred her to come straight over. "What's up? They aren't hurting each other are they?" She questioned while on the way there.
"No, but they're definitely doing something." The Dragon replied still baffled at their behavior.
Upon arrival Amerlan witnessed the one of the males fighting to pull a stick out of the ground, while five of the girls definitely looked puffier than normal. The two smaller Sayar, didn't seem to be effected. She at once knew what was going on when she spotted Owen's mound of things. Chuckling she patted Seroth's side, "Don't worry you over grown reptile, they've gone broody that's all. Though it looks like the males are the ones in charge of the nest."
Snorting he glared at his bonded. "What have I said about you calling me that? I don't see you calling Cinth an overgrown reptile." He had half a mind to lay her flat on her butt when he received a message from Akanth. "Ooh it seems all, or most, of the Saydar from the Pload Invasion have gone broody. Terris has invited us over for a communal breeding!" Without even a word of agreement from Amerlan he snatched up Owen and two of the females. "Quickly round up the other three! I'll grab them when I get back!" Darting off towards Terris house he arrived there in no time. "Terris watch these for me? I need to go back and get the rest." Not even staying to see if the man would head his plea he went Between and popped out back over Amerlan's house. Landing he helped his bonded onto his back and picked up the last three females and darted back to where Terris was with his birds. The two juveniles would be fine at home with Keeva. For some reason she hated the taste of Saydar, though that didn't bother Seroth one bit.
Amerlan was surprised at how quickly Seroth had gotten them all over there. Dismounting she walked over to where the Saydar were still shaking from their hasty journey. Looking at Terris she inquired, "Don't suppose you have room for another boy do you? Oh, and I've got 5 ladies who would love a shot at your boys if you don't mind?"

Terris welcomed those that arrived with a half-amused grin, promising to look after their saydar as they went back and got more, or got organised, or whatever they were doing. In all honesty, he was too excited about the whole event to really pay much attention to what the others were doing.
He moved quickly, tossing leather bridles around the male saydars' heads. Those that were asleep, he left where they were, the others he moved into waiting pens, of which he had plenty. Though the maturation of the saydar had caught him unaware, he had been preparing for more livestock just in case he managed to find something worth keeping in his travels. This pre-planning had paid off, it seemd in an unexpected way.
Once the males were stowed, all he could do was wait for the others to return and bring females to them.
He had expected the whole town to turn out, and was sort of glad only two had heeded the summons, as he was not entirely sure how he would have managed over forty saydar on his small ranch, and the breeding nightmare that would entail.
(ooc: okay, so now, when you are ready, post your present male saydar in one grouping, and your present female saydar in another, and I'll deal with the....literal cluster**** that is to follow. Due to the fact there's only three of us, Im going to increase the max number of eggs each female can give a male from 3 to 5)

Broody birds wasn't exactly something new for Leyora, but she had never seen anything quite like this. It was enough to make her reconsider the free-range lifestyle she had been letting all but her osidae live up to this point. Her saydar, Ayman, was frantic and furious. He had all but kicked his best friend, Tavor, out of his own sand bowl and was gathering rocks of all sizes into a pile at the center of the bowl. Every time he sat on the pile as if trying to hatch the rocks, some poor creature, like Skipper the rabbit, came by to investigate. Each time Ayman would fluff his feathers out, hop up and hiss obscenely at the creature. Skipper was not so readily scared off and even hopped a little closer. This resulted in Ayman chasing the rabbit in circles around the sand bowl until Skipper was able to fly out, just barely saving his lovely ebony feathers from being plucked.
"Don't reckon I've ever seen a male bird act like this before and at such a young age. Any thoughts on this?" Eyrdith was her go-to creature for advice as the dragon was old enough to have a working knowledge of most of this world. The dragon merely answered that this was typical for the saydars, but that she would ask around. The seeming prematureness of the behavior was what had her concerned and lead her to wonder if it was possible for the fates to misdeal the cards against her bird, but Eyrdith assured her that Ayman was no chick. Not any more.
While she waited for news from the other dragons, Leyora hastily went about piecing together a travelling cage, though she had no idea how to round the saydar up without getting bit. Rasmus and Tigress were more than happy to drive the saydar away long enough for Leyora to shove most of the rocks in the cage, before herding Ayman, too. Never was there a more upset bird! Not only was he confined like never before, but his precious rocks were all out of order. Hissing and honking his protests, he made himself busy with rebuilding his nest.
Eyrdith piped up to say that Akanth seemed eager for them to bring Ayman over; something about breeding more food and more food was always better. Chuckling, Leyora presented the cage to her dragon. The cage was really nothing impressive, but it would do and Eyrdith made sure she knew that. She also let Leyora know that there were many birds already over at Terris's place, so they might be there awhile. Taking heed, the human set about feeding the rest of her pets and bondeds. Rasmus tried to gobble his food up as fast as he could, because he wanted to come with them, but Leyora was quick to decline, reminding him that a predator in the midst might put off the mood for birds wishing to lay. With that issue dealt with, Eyrdith gathered up human and saydar and took them to Terris.
"Hope we aren't too late for the party? Ayman is getting impossible to live with!" She smiled and pointed at the bird who was furiously chasing rocks that had become unsettled from the flight.
