Duzell was having a bit of trouble keeping his footing on the narrow pass high up in Gryphon Peaks. The harsh cold wind was constantly threatening to push him off the tiny walkway and the temperature made him wish, not for the first time, that he had been wearing warmer clothes when he had been dropped into this world. Maybe he would petition the gods for a new wardrobe, or better yet learn how to make his own. Shivering, Duzell spotted Saint and Orryx just a little bit ahead of him, wait for him to catch up. Saint had been attempting to bribe Duzell to go do something interesting for quite a while now. When Duzell had finally acquiesced Saint decided that they should explore the mountains. Duzell had agreed; he had been wanting to scout out this area for a while now. Of course, Saint had a fur coat, so he probably did not even consider to cold. Duzell was not so fortunate. Clutching is own coat closer to him he moved to catch up with his two bondeds.
As he drew closer he realized that they had not stopped to wait for him, but that they were staring at what looked like the remains of some kind of castle. Duzell was incredulous, he thought he and the others were the first "humans" here. Yet there were these massive ruins. Last one there's a rotten egg. Orryx called as he raced off before Duzell had a chance to stop him. Saint bounded off after Orryx leaving Duzell with no choice but to follow after them.
They reached the ruins much sooner that Duzell thought they would. The castle was built on the edge of a large precipice. Orryx swam over to the side and disappeared over the edge. Oh wow, that's so deep I can't see the bottom. Saint walked over to the entryway. The remains of an oak door still barely clung to rusted hinges but the vast majority had already rotted away. Come on. I want to see what's inside.
The trio cautiously walked into the ruins. The holes in the roof and walls created enough light to see by, although not enough to chase away the eerie shadows that filled the halls and empty rooms. You know Orryx, this is just the kind of place that cannibals like to live. Orryx flew over to hover right above Duzell's shoulder. You won't let anything eat me, right? Duzell chuckled. "I doubt we'll have to worry about that."
No sooner were the words out of his mouth then the three of them heard a loud clang from one of the abandoned halls. They all jumped, even though Saint would never admit it. Instead he chose to project the bravery he was not truly feeling and walked on to investigate the strange sound.
