Arlene placed the three draped on her by the mixed berries bowl. "I wouldn't even try on that bet. If he collapses before the edge of town, I'll see what I can do with what I have on hand. Though I don't think it would be prudent or particularly nice to mention him shrieking like a banshee under the poison." She glanced up curiously as an unknown face showed up. She shifted into full healer mode taking in the injury.

(hope it's ok if Anari gets in on this)
After taking some time to freshen up, and feeling much more like herself and relaxed, Anari decided it was time to get her bearings in her new home. For a time she wandered through town, learning the streets and finding comfort in the familiar routine, even if the settings had changed. And eventually, her steps drew her close to the party that was going on. She looked around, seeing familiar faces even if she didn't really know anyone's name but Terris (whom she didn't see in the area. Odd. Perhaps he hadn't arrived yet?) and smiling faintly at the cheerful setting. It seemed everyone was marveling at some sort of snakes that were slithering (or in some cases, flying on wings or walking on tiny little legs) around.
Feeling a little ache in her right leg from all the walking around, she limped carefully through the others, not intentionally hiding but not making a spectacle of herself either, to take a seat at one of the tables and rest a bit. Seeing some packages sitting there, she casually looked them over, then gently picked up one wrapped with brown paper tied with a string. It reminded her fondly of the birthday and holiday gifts her mother had given her when she was a child. Smiling, she looked around for whoever seemed to be charge of this.
"Pardon me, but I don't see any name tags on these. Are they for anyone?"

Post by Jordan on Aug 6, 2014 22:02:00 GMT -8
So far Jordan was less than enthusiastic about the new world he had found himself trapped in. He had tried every thing he could think of to get home, from daily prayers to ancient incantations. He would never admit he had even tried wishing really hard, yet he was still stuck in this hell. Worse, all his supplies, weapons, and tools had not come here with him. As such, he was having a difficult time hunting and remaining self sufficient. Jordan was never particularly talented at building anything; back home whenever he needed something he would just steal it from the nearby town like a carrion bird scavenging prey. And it was precisely for that reason that he had come into the little town today.
It would seem he had picked the perfect day to come into town. No one was home! Jordan waltzed into homes and business, swiping food from the basement of the local inn, various tools out of homes and even some ale from a local tavern. He had even found a new staff in a shed behind one of the homes. It would require some modifications to become a proper Necromancer's staff, but at least he would not have to carve an entire new one. He also snagged a small dagger. He was secretly pleased that whoever owned this home was away. Whoever they were, they must have been an impressive fighter to own so many weapons. Jordan instructed the few minions he had been able to create to carry his pilfered items back home and went back to scouring the town. Tongue lolling out of it's giant maw, the largest minion seemed to understand what Jordan wanted, but he could never be entirely certain. The dumb things were just as likely to drop his supplies in a river without direct supervision, but he wanted to scavenge a bit more and did not ant to be caught with stolen goods. The longer he could keep these fools from knowing what he was up to the better.
Soon Jordan found the reason no one was in their homes. A large group of people had gathered in the town square at some kind of party. He watched as an armored man charged out of the party and ran past them into the forest. He hoped the warrior did not run into his horde of minions. The things would ruin his food when they dropped it to kill the man. Glancing around Jordan saw that most of the people were either occupied by small strange looking snakes or another newcomer who looked badly injured. Jordan's eyes fixed on a skeleton in the midst of the party. So there was another necromancer here. Not a very imaginative one judging by the standard human shape of their minion. Jordan laid a mental claim on the body of the injured man should he fall. He could always use a human shaped minion or two. Not to mention the autolysis that afflicted his minions meant he was constantly needing new ones.
With the other party-goer's distracted, Jordan's attention fell on the table. A few parcels were sitting on it and instantly Jordan wanted one. He picked up the tube shaped package and shook it. He couldn't tell what was inside from the sound. He looked around furtively. Would anyone notice if he took it and left?

Fainche's long braid swung with each step though she kept an eye on the sun. She had no clue where she was and even less clue why it didn't feel like she was burning blood just to be in the sun. She'd been under the curse of Caine since 1452, when she was 16, but as everyone turn of the 21st knew that early was hard on people prematurely aging them. The architecture was completely unfamiliar. She had no choice but to bluff it but she'd gotten good at that in nearly six centuries hadn't she? I mean she had been living plunked down in Sabbat territory where they'd drain you for the power in your blood as soon as look at you. Maybe she'd finally achieved golconda on the path of heaven but that would have been hard as hotheaded as her clan tended to be. They were running the Anarchs for pity's sake.
She stepped cautiously into town. Sadly, civilization meant other Cainites pulling the strings of what the elders considered little more than cattle, but there seemed to be some form of festivity and participation would possibly yield some information enough that she could wing it she hoped. She looked startled as her stomach growled seeing the food placing a dagger recently sharpened and battle nicked in exchange for the Christmas wrapped one. She may have been leery of the commercialization of the holiday over the centuries and more to the point noone to celebrate it with but that at least was familiar.
She didn't see the mage going pale ghost white and taking a few steps backwards on seeing her.

Tajian, aback his newly aquired warhorse, Thanatos, entered the town, only to find it seemingly deserted. The human looked around, confused.
"Where do you suppose they all are? Do you think the dragons ate them all?" he asked the warhorse.
The warhorse released an amused snort, tossing his head in merriment.
Dragons, eat humans. Hah! from what Ive gathered from a bicorn friend of mine, when it comes to humans, a dragon is just an overgrown flitter-mouse! No, they haven't eaten the humans. I can hear something over there, I bet they have all gethered in one place. he answered, swinging his head in the direction of Amerlan's house.
Tajian cocked his head. The sound of exotic music carried faintly to him and he nodded.
"Come to think of it, I hear it too" he replied.
Without needing to be instructed, Thanatos took off at a regal trot toward the sound of the music, his head pulled tight to his chest, making his neck arch prettily as he high stepped into the gathering.
"Showoff" Tajian muttered, though, he, too, held himself somewhat proudly, it would not do to make a bad impression. Suddenly he was glad he had re-donned his ornamental armour and his cloak, as, on this mostly white charger, it truly did complete the picture.

Raegar groaned a little swatted Cozzene's rump lightly. "You sure know how to make an entrance. It is a wonder you didn't insist on me riding again so you could shake me off into someones lap." The stallion merely laid his ears back. The ears swiveled forward encouragingly as the cat-like lady came to help, though. Cozzene may have even pranced a little in his eagerness to see his rider tended to.
Raegar was hesitant to lean on the small frame of the lass, but he wasn't given much time to protest. Before he knew it he was sitting on a bench and trying to screen out all the unnecessary noise and sights so he could focus on only what was being said to him. He blink blearily and realized there were now two women at his side. Giving what was supposed to be a charming smile, he muttered, "Did I die, after all, to have such angels by my side?" He could feel the bandage being removed and the wound inspected. The deft and almost painless touches had him convinced he must be alive, after all. There was no mistaking the touch of a healer.
The wound was near the middle and front of his torso. It was deep enough to warrant the blood loss, but not deep enough to have hit anything vital. If the wound had been about a quarter of an inch in any direction, though he would not have been so lucky. It was possible that the swamp mud may also have infected the wound. He was currently unaware of any of it though.
He was too busy trying to take his mind off of anything that the healer might be doing, by inspecting his surroundings. Lovely ladies were aplenty, as were oddities. Was that a floral snake he saw? Wait. No. It was only a vine that was carved to look like a snake; a very convincing, moving, hissing snake. Another seemed to be made of fire. There was a creature much like a unicorn, only with two horns not far away and then there was the skeleton sitting across the way, staring at him with empty sockets.Sure this was just another delusion! Was his stallion even real? "I assure you I most certainly am real. so is everything else you are seeing. Oddities are not a new thing for you though, are they, bonded?"
The question was more of a dry statement and was just a little more than Raegar's broken mind could handle at the moment. It was almost a crime against his ever fleeting sanity. In a fit of frustrated panic, he flailed and knocked some sort of box into his lap, before disembodied hands held him firmly to keep him from struggling anymore. Was there hissing in that box? What kind of messed up party did he invite himself into? Maybe this really was a hallucination, though and the reality was that he was still in Mt.Meridias, bleeding out and that damnable music was his idiotic gnomes still fiddling with the calliope.
Only one way to be sure. He closed his eyes and took in several deep breaths, letting them out slowly. When he finally opened his eyes again, all was still the same, and the lid to the box in his lap had fallen open.

Cain stiffened as he felt the presence of something dark but looking around, did not notice anything. Until he caught sight of Fainche. Great. Something that reminded him a vampire. Just what he needed when surrounded by venomous snakes. Actually, it could be what the others needed. Gathering up his snakes and ignoring the hissing, he nudged Able. Maybe it was time to leave before something bad happened. A quick wave to anyone paying attention and then Cain was gone from the ever growing gathering. He would pause by Amerlan briefly to thank her for hosting it. After all, Cain wasn't without manners.

Had she not known the knights bonds would see to his recovery Amerlan may have been worried for his state of mind. She herself knew how lifelike the hallucinations could be and if it weren't for Seroth she might have gone streaking out into the ocean. A loud whiny stole her attention away from Terris and onto the newcomer. She had never seen him before, nor the creature he was astride.
It was a relief to her that the others had approached this new person first. She had gotten to know the others in their few short months here and since then only Taki had shown up, but now it seemed the gods were bored and decided to bring a new wave of recruits to join them. This made her very wary of all the new people, and it seemed quite a few of them had happened upon her small gathering. Wary or not she would play the good hostess, and perhaps even get to know a few of these new people.
One of the new people was gentling handling a gift, smiling at their fondness over the package Amerlan nodded. "You are more than welcome to open any one of the gifts you choose. And welcome to the town!"
Inside the package Anari would find five, very complaint Undassa. They appreciated the fact that the woman was treating their temporary home with care. However, the shadow Undassa did have a nasty temper and would have to be treated with extra caution.
Out of the corner of her eye she spotted another new comer swipe a present from the table. His lack of commentary and apparent desire to stay unnoticed, he was creeping around as quiet as a mouse, were enough for her to leave him be, all the gifts did need homes after all, but his shaking it was a very bad thing. Rushing over towards him she made a grab for his wrist. "Don't shake it you bonehead! Hurry up and open it and let them out!" By her assessment she had been in the right to call the stupid man names. Anyone could clearly see that within the packages were snakes.
She could hear the three Undassa already spitting mad within the package, like little incarnations of hell. The man was exceedingly lucky, while they would most likely charge out of their confines upon release, any biting that would occur would be completely non-venomous.
Another of the new comers, another woman, was eyeing the present wrapped in red and green Christmas paper. "Go ahead and open that one, your the first to give it a glance." Amerlan nodded and smiled, hoping the woman would be quick to release the Undassa. That batch had been relatively friendly, but from the bursts of red coming from one of the Undassa within she hoped the woman wouldn't get bit upon opening it, though it seemed very likely she would. "Be careful with that one though, one of the little one's seems to be quite upset for being overlooked for so long."
Another new comer entered the mix, this time a knight, much more showy than Terris, on a very regal looking horse. It seemed to be of the same breed as the other new comer's mount. Nodding to herself she decided she would be getting one of those regal bonds. Firnor had been proving rather difficult to convince that he should allow Amerlan to ride him. The few successful atempts they had had been quickly squashed when the Dire Weasel had discovered a new hidey hole or something shiny needed licking.
With the others busy with the injured newcomer Amerlan strode up to the knight. "Hello there! Welcome to the Weyr and welcome to this gathering of mine. There are food and drink aplenty, and you can event take home a welcome gift if you choose."
Lianth, who had been slumbering in the sun peeked her eyes open. Seeing so many new people she stretched out like a cat and decided to see how everyone was getting along. The humans who had already opened their gifts seemed quite happy with them, if was a good thing she had not seen the fiasco with Terris else she may have been sent into a fit of giggles and damaged the poor man's ego.
None of the newcomers particularly caught her attention, but that almost white steed looked interesting. Trotting up to her bonded and the steed she showed off a toothy, almost-grin. "I've never met a Silvian Warhorse before. What part of the Weyr are you from?" That nap in the sun had done Liant some good. Her hide had gone from a pale blue, to a fully developed sapphire, which lightened on her belly, tips of her wings and a light streak down the middle of her face.
Amerlan noted the change in her bonded and grinned. Aelluth had gotten her full coloring in a few days before and the two had been non-stop bickering about the brilliance of their hides. Both, of course, were beautiful in their own way in Amerlan's eyes. Perhaps she had been spoiling the two of them too much, she had been meaning to rain on their parade for quite some time, but she had hoped they could work it out on their own first. Sighing she reckoned when the party was done she would set the two hatchlings to work cleaning up as the first part of their "get a long" program. She had no clue if her little scheme would work, but she could worry about that later, she had a few more gifts to hand out.
Going to check on her injured guest, he looked rather ragged and she would have guessed he had lived in poverty if not for the fineness of the rags he was wearing. She gasped when he knocked one of the boxes into his lap. Holding up her hands in front of her and her tail lashing she spoke very slowly and very clearly to the man. "Within that box there is a second box. Very carefully and very slowly I want you to remove it." She held her breath hoping the Undassa wouldn't attack the man, but she knew at least one of the Undassa was aggressive and venomous and all that rough movement from it's new handler might have set it off.
Amerlan nodded absently to Cain, her eyes still trained on the box in the injured man's lap. "Thank you for stopping by Cain." Her words were barely above a whisper.

Anari's eyes widened as she took in the serpents. The pair that looked identical to each other and seemed to be icy in nature slid their way up her arms as she carefully lifted all from the box, taking a place on each of her shoulders and nuzzling her cheeks affectionately, their touch cool and comforting. The winged one took to the air, much to her surprise and delight, and circled her head a few times, sending everyone a scruitinizing glance before gently touching her forehead with his in a hello. By contrast, the shadowed serpent hissed angrily at her, despite her soft touch on her. It was somewhat funny, but Anari saw more than a little bit of herself in the dark female, making her rather endeared of the little snake. And at first, when she saw the last she thought mayhaps there had been two remaining, until she realized that it was two heads on the same creature. Eyes widening at the beautiful metallic color, it had soon scampered with tiny feet up her arm and onto her chest, where it clung onto her clothes like it was a piece of armor.
The flashes of color that exploded in her vision made her carefully press a hand to her eyes for a moment against the near-dizzying sight - were they coming from the serpents? Yes, Anari decided, they were, as she began to interpret what the little creatures were communicating.
"I'm glad to see you too," she murmured back, "and I'll take good care of you." Already in her heart they had found a home.

Tajian smiled at the woman and was just about to swing himself down from his charger, when Thanatos took the initiative and bowed low, allowing him to slide off with dignity. He stroked the strong neck of the stallion, who nudged him gently, then trotted on the spot, tossing his head and whickering shrilly as he did so.
"Showoff!" he called at the horse, then, he, too, showing off a little, bowed low at Amerlan.
"It is a pleasure to meet you M'lady, they call me Tajian" he said with as much charm as he could muster.
The present table caught his eye almost immediately and, offering her his arm, he nodded in that direction.
"I would be honoured to accept a gift...on the condition you help me to choose." there was an unmistakable twinkle in his green eyes as he spoke the last...was he flirting with her?
Thanatos studied the young dragon as he, himself was studied, his nostrils flairng, drinking in the scent of the winged creature. He was surprised when the dragon spoke to him, as dragons, as far as he knew, spoke rarely to prey animals. Perhaps, he thought wryly, dragons raised by humans had better manners.
I hail from the grasslands between the black sands of the dunes and the waters of the reef, though, quite far from the Nexus, my herd tends to avoid travelling too close, lest your kind makes a meal out of us. his voice was smooth, and he kept the tone light, though his eyes were more than a little nervous. The dragon probably would not eat him, he decided, but if there were any larger ones about...well, he was not so sure...

The knights movement drew her away from her injured guest and back to the knight himself. She grinned when he bowed to her, a gentleman eh? She savored the good manners for a moment, most people here had been polite, but none overly so. "Pleased to meet you Tajian. My name is Amerlan."
Nodding she laid her hand on his arm and together they went to the table. Picking up the last gift covered in silvery paper she handed it to the knight and stepped back. The little ones within were anxious to get out, but not overly worked up. The man wouldn't likely be bit, but you never knew with these Undassa.
Lianth tilted her head to the side. "Eat huh?" Scrunching up her face she shook her head. "You look too muscular, not good for eating. Besides, we wouldn't eat a bonded of another, I do believe that's what you would call a taboo."
