Duzell sat down next to his egg, staring at it curiously and day-dreaming about what might be inside it. Nysath had said it was much too small to be a dragon’s egg so that hope was dashed quickly. He was more concerned about how cold it was. Even with the heat from the sands the egg had not gotten even a degree warmer. Just as he was about to get up and ask Nysath if he could think of anything else the egg might be a terrible buzzing sound began. It rose in volume until Duzell was certain his brain would melt out of his ears and then, as suddenly as it began, it was gone. In the beautiful silence that followed Duzell glanced around the Nexus for the source of the sound. He then saw his beautiful egg, completely shattered by the sound. There was a white mist that did not look unlike fog seeping out from the egg and slowly curling around the remains of the shell. Shedding the last few remains of the eggshell, the mist floated up until it reached Duzell’s eye level and slowly began to take shape. Duzell reached towards the mist and suddenly something snapped.
It was ice cold and Duzell felt as though he was sinking into the depths of the ocean. He could not breath, could not move except to stare at the magnificent creature in front of him. It was nearly as big as Nysath, blindingly white with long tentacles that flowed gracefully in the water. Its smokey form mixed with the water around it, burring it’s form just slightly. Its eyes stared at Duzell and as they floated there together he felt as though his soul was being judged. A deep booming voice shook him to his core. Yes, you are the one. He felt a feeling of acceptance wash over him and just when he felt he was going to run out of air suddenly he was back standing in the Nexus as though he had never left. The giant squid had come with him too, although it was significantly less giant now.
The tiny white squid “swam” though the air around Duzell, circling him and squeaking with excitement. Apparently his voice had lost its impressive nature as well. Ooh, what’s that? He squeaked repeatedly as he stared at various items around the Nexus. He swam quickly around investigating everything and asking a million questions a second. Duzell reached up to catch it, hoping to slow it down enough that he could ask a few questions of his own, but his hand passed right through the tiny squid. Duzell pulled his hand down and messaged his fingers, trying to get feeling back into his now freezing hands. Oh, no. You can’t touch yet. The bond isn’t strong enough. Soon, as the bond gets stronger and I get bigger. Then I’ll be solid enough for you to hold your Orryx if you want. "Orryx?" Yep that's me. The squid twirled in the air. Oh, what’s that? Orryx shot off and, chuckling, Duzell followed.

It didn't take Leyora long at all to figure out exactly what to do with her brilliantly colored egg. her first instinct as the ear shattering sounds commenced, was to put it down in the sand as quickly and gently as she could before dropping to her knees and holding her ears. Just when she thought she might not be able to handle the noise any longer, everything just stopped; broke off as easily as the pieces of eggshell that now cracked and fell away. The sparkling, silver vapour that curled its way out of the egg and up into the air seemed to drift aimlessly about before settling in Leyora's hands which were now reaching out and slightly cupped to provide the strange being a safe place to rest.
For a moment, she was certain that she had become the proud mother of writhing puddle of smoke and had no idea what she should do for it. That, however was before the silver entity began to twist and shift and slowly take on a form. Polished silver discs were the first thing to form and as soon as tiny pupils dotted the discs and locked onto Leyora's eyes, there was no doubt that these were eyes as well. A warm, thrumming chant seemed to fill her heart before it bled into her ears and finally registered in her mind that the sound and feeling was coming from the tiny, writhing mass. A bond forming even before the body did.
Without realizing it, though, she seemed to know what form the creature in her hands would take; as if it already were and always had been the unusual shape the vapour was melding into. As with most lifeforms, first came the head, which held the rigid shape of a seahorse's head. It was a soft indigo blue and flecked with little, black dots reminiscent of a cheetah's spots. It was a fitting set of markings for the body, which retained the same blue hue and spots, was also taking the feline form of a cheetah from shoulders to paws and all the way to the tip of the tail. To say it was bizarre was likely an understatement, but even then the transformation was not complete.
The sharp, silver eyes were still holding a firm gaze into Leyora's own blue-ish, grey eyes and piercing straight into her heart and soul as though searching her desires for how this creature should become whole. With out her noticing, she had even taken up the chant, verbally, under her breath. From the shoulders of her weird quadruped, sprung feathers of many shapes and sizes until they took an on almost angelic form of wings. Near these wing joints sprouted, also something much like insect wings and butterfly wings. When looked at as a whole, the wings became very fae-like and all retained the polished silver hue that the vapour had started as. There were defining black markings and the occasional glint of indigo lining every other feather and pseudo wing. The creature let out a musical trill and flexed his wings as the chanting faded away. "You are Leyora. Your heart is my home. I am Kapelle and I am yours." Leyora and all her companions sat staring in stunned silence as she nodded her head in acceptance of her newest family member.

Arlene picked up the shifting mist starting the newly formed pup in the process. He was still young and said his name was Amon

Cain could only think of basically one word as he watched the shifting, colorful vapor pour out of the egg and it was not a very nice word. It started with f and rhymes with truck or duck or muck or suck (which is sometimes done when doing the word). Maybe it varied every now and then as the vapor came closer and closer to where he was and where he had dropped the egg by accident when the first crack had appeared. It was not too far away, but the roll it did after it hit the ground was enough for Cain to have some distance to put more distance in between them.
No. This was not alright. The Gods needed to stop meddling in Death's area or innocent blood would be spilled. Cain did not want that on his skull. Nope. No way. It was worse than the worse stain in the world to get rid of. It never truly disappeared. And it weighs so heavily on the soul, that it can make the sane crazy and the crazy sane.
Bringing his attention back to the vapor in front of him, he winced and took another step back. The thing seemed to be having a dance with itself as it tried to take a form and slip a bond into place. Cain firmly blocked it and did his best to ignore the tickling sensation at the edges of his mind. He would not have that...that thing bonded to him. No. It could just go away. As far away as possible. It was not his. It could not be his. Just...Just let it go away and bond to someone who wanted it. Cain did not want it, but yet, he did not want it to fade away into nothing cause he could not give it what it needed. He was not quite that cruel.
Basically, he was in a fine kettle of fish here and he did not like it. He also did not notice that he was getting near another spirit animal that was already bonded and having the time of its life. Or was the animal getting closer to him? Hard to tell really if you were an outsider watching this little exchange or even an insider as Cain did not pay the least bit of attention to where he was going. Dorth just huffed at her bonded and almost went to bond the little creature herself. She did want to give Cain a chance but if he did not start bonding that little guy soon, Dorth was going too and then take apart her bonded and scatter him about for a night.
That would teach him to look a gifted kurbok in the mouth and to just let the poor little colorful vapor bond to him. Really. It would be less painful for all involved and less inconvenient. Least for Cain. He was the one that had to put himself back together after a night apart.

Orryx swam around the Nexus ducking into every little nook and cranny exploring everything there was to see all the while sending a steady stream of questions and exclamations all directed towards the very amused Duzell. Suddenly Orryx sped off, utterly captivated by probably the most interesting thing in the entire Nexus. Well, at that moment anyway; Orryx was easily amazed.
Orryx swam up to the walking skeleton and quickly circled him three or four times. Oh, what are you? Are you a dead person? I thought dead people didn't walk. Can you talk? What's your name? I'm Orryx. Orryx glanced back at his bonded who was jogging over to them. That's Duzell. We bonded! Isn't that exciting? Orryx swam inside Cain's ribcage. Oh, this is weird. This is weird but fun. He swam back out so that he could look at where Cain't eyes would have been. Why are you so quiet? Is something wrong? Can I help?

Cain jumped as Orryx slipped through and about his ribs. It tickled him and he caught himself chuckling. No. He would not let these creatures know that they could make him laugh. He would not like them. He would not like them Sam I am. He would not like them any way shape or form. But it was asking questions. It wanted to know things. Shooting Duzell a glare like it was all his fault (though it actually wasn't but Cain wasn't going to listen to reason at the moment), he turned and started to answer questions.
And ignoring the ever creeping closer vapor.
"A skeleton. Yes. Cain. Not really. I'm not quiet. No. Nothing is wrong. Go away." He was being terse and his voice came off crueler than he might have wanted but maybe Orryx wouldn't notice. Though the little squid animal would have to be pretty distracted not to notice.

Orryx stopped his circling and for the first time since he had hatched was completely silent. Sorry, I'll go. He swam back over to Duzell who returned Cain's glare with full force. With Orryx hiding behind his left shoulder Duzell marched up to Cain. "Look, I know he can be exuberant, but there's no reason to be mean." Cautiously Orryx peeked over Duzell shoulder and stared at Cain. Then with what Orryx clearly believed was a whisper he said, He says nothing's wrong but he's lying. I can tell. Why else would he be mean. Maybe he's hurt. Curiosity overcoming his hurt feelings he floated over to Cain. Are you hurt somewhere? You don't have to hide it. I can help. Well, not really. I'm not very solid. But if Duzell stops glaring at you he could help! Oh look! Orryx swam over to the prismatic vapor that was growing ever closer to Cain. They are so pretty! Is this why you're hurt? Can You not bond? Poor you. And poor them, they're getting so weak. They won't be here much longer without help.

Seeing little Orryx scurry behind Duzell and then still be concerned with him had Cain feeling more than a little ashamed of himself. "I wasn't being mean cause he was exuberant. I was being mean cause...I give up!" He doubted anyone would understand what he was going through at the moment and he felt the mental huff from Dorth. Quit being a drama diva Cain. It is just a spirit animal and if you take half a second to bond and look, you will see what I see. Which is an animal that defies death to begin with.
Cain just tried to shot his dragon a glare before letting out a low growl as the vapor slide over him and locked the bond into place. Damn it. Who knew contact was so important to this thing? "I didn't need any help." Even as he spoke the vapor pulled away and took on the form of a phoenix. Though it wasn't quite a steady form as the bond between the two was still very weak. That didn't stop the legendary bird from letting out a weak but fierce sqawk as she answered Orryx.
He does not want me. But I want him. He is mine. He is Basaol's!

Cain was almost completely forgotten as Basaol took shape. Oh, you're even prettier now. How could he not want you? Is he stupid? Orryx turned to Cain. I'm sorry that was mean. He looked back at Basaol. Have you seen the Nexus? It's amazing and huge and full of Dragons. Duzell was showing me around. Duzell stifled a laugh at Orryx's interpretation of Duzell desperately trying to keep up with the tiny squid as he sped around the Nexus. There's so much to see! Come on, you can come too Mr. Grumpy. Without waiting for an answer Orryx sped off in a new direction, clearly fascinated by something in the distance. Duzell shrugged at Cain. "I've gotta go after him before he gets himself lost. Umm, have fun I guess?" He was not entirely certain what was going on between Cain and his spirit animal but he hoped the worked it out soon.

Ooh! Look over there!
Tam'kar ran this way and that, looking at things with Taki chasing after him. The little fellow was as cheerful as she herself was, and just as curious, though sadly she could only answer a few of his questions as she had never explored this place herself.
How pretty! Do you think the dragons are nice? They seem like they might be. There sure are a lot of people here! Ooh! They've got friends too. I bet they're Bonded! The kit's eyes got big all of the sudden. Oh wow! I didn't think a squid could swim in the air! Taki looked where Tam'kar was looking, and sure enough saw a small, semi-transparent squid floating in the air, moving roughly in their direction. Completely friendly, the kit bounded up until he was beneath Orryx, bouncing up on his hind legs to gently bat at him. Hi! I'm Tam'kar, and that's my Taki! How do you fly? Is it fun?
Taki caught up, panting slightly but unable to quell the shared energy flowing between herself and Tam'kar, and smiled cheerily at Orryx and the quickly catching up Duzell.

Orryx was suddenly captivated by the three tailed Kitsune down below him. The kitsune had asked him a question! Usually he asked all the questions but now he got to answer some! I'm Orryx. Nice to meet you Tam'kar. Flying is really fun! I fly becuase, well...it's like swimming. In the air! Yeah, that's it. Oh, maybe answering questions was harder than he thought. Orryx decided to stick to asking them from now on. Orryx swam lower and circled around Tam'kar. You have so many pretty tails! Would you like to explore the Nexus with me and my Duzell? It will be fun. My Duzell is good at answering questions, even if he is a bit of a slow runner.

Exploring sounds like fun! Tam'kar dropped into a low play bow, tails flicking back and forth happily. And thank you! I'll have more tails someday, like nine! And ruby red orbs in them too, but that's all when I'm older. Taki meanwhile waved at Duzell.
*Hi again! I finally got here. I had no idea the Nexus was soooo big! Or that there were so many dragons, and other people! Then, while I was exploring a little I almost tripped over this egg, and it turned into Tam'kar!* Her excitement was making her babble a bit, but it was hard to contain, especially with her Bond to the kit adding to it.

Orryx swam back and forth next to Tam’kar. Ning tails? That's so many! He swirled his tentacles. I’m pretty much guaranteed to have eight, although they’re not really tails. Legs, but not for walking? I will get bigger though. A lot bigger! But not for a while now. First I have to spend more time with my Duzell. Ooh, look. He’s here!
Duzell finally caught up to where Orryx was excitedly swimming around Tam'kar and Taki. "Oh, hi there Taki. Glad to see you made it here alright." He smiled at Tam’kar and Orryx chatting away. “Thay seem to be getting along. If you aren’t doing anything I was giving Orryx a tour of the Nexus. You and Tam’kar are more than welcome to join us.”

*That sounds wonderful! I just came in right before that loud sound woke everyone, so all I pretty much had time to see was around the edge. I didn't want to disturb anyone who was still sleeping. Then I nearly tripped over Tam'kar's egg!* Taki mildly hoped Duzell was able to keep up with her rapid dialogue; she knew she sometimes babbled when she got excited. *He said I was 'his friend.' And I... I think we're Linked.* She had no other word to explain or describe the sensation, other than what she had heard from stories about the others of her kind who partnered with someone else, back on her home world. A noise from above, one of the dragons likely, had her looking up with wide eyes. Tam'kar, meanwhile, bounced up on his hind legs, pawing up at Orryx and eager to run and play!
